I have way to much time on my hands to be thinking about this WHAT IF, but Yamaha has had its share of first year problems, some minor some not. Here is my list from my Yami sleds.

1997 SX 700----Stator problems, Rear trailing arm mounts, Rubber stops update on suspension, W-Arms breaking.

2000 Sx-R 700---- NONE, this was probably to best sled I ever owned. If it were not for a freak accident I may still have this sled today.

2002 Viper----Poor shock calibration, water pump failures, poor fit of hood to belly pan requiring modification

2006 Attack----I hope none since most of the sled except for the fuel injection system is out there for a few years.

Lets not forget the crank problems on the SRX.

Despite these mostly minor problems I have been extremely happy with Yamaha products, so much so that I am coming back after a year on a ski doo rev 800.

Its starting to get pretty exciting waiting for my Attack.

Thanks
Matt

I sure there will be a few small issues..

I pretty much can say for sure that even though they added a ton of grease serts to the suspension the bushings will still wear out,, and even though the electric shock on the GT is mounted in a way that the wire going to it bends very little, there will still be some who break it..

and even though the new Fuel injection will work great,,, there will still be some who have electrical gremlens in there sled , not allowing it to run right or not at all..

Sleds run in very hostile enviroments and cannot be expected to be perfect..

Man.................listen to you guys' You are defeated even before your new sleds have had a chance to please you. It's no wonder the "other sites" call us a bunch of Smerfs Just ride em and if there is an issue, deal with it then. ;)!

Even if the are 90% as good as the Vector/Rage first year sleds I think everyone will be very happy.
I hate buying first year sleds but I had ZERO issues with my Rage, sure the clutch rattled a little but Yamaha stepped up and took care of it. Some had TORS issues but I feel that was either a certain production run or dealer setup problems. I had no TORS problems with mine but my buddy had problems with both his and his wifes. His dealer is in Mass. mine is in NY.

SMIRFS??? LOL thats funny... I agree,, you cannot go threw life worring about your sled.. BUT, its hard not to,,,, expecially when your 150 miles from the closest gas station and its -20 out..

Man i cant wait to go riding... these sleds are gonna rock..

We ride Canada and Up-State NY but, never ride alone. All of us have needed help from time to time. We always offer............even when it's another brand. Think about it...........isn't it fun to tow in brandX

I never carry a tow rope... I tell my buddies i dont need one because i ride a yamaha,,,

I make them carry the tow ropes... that weigh our sleds weigh the same.. LOL

However i am going to start carrying a gas siphen... so i dont have to listen to my buddies whine about running out of gas when i have 1/4 tank left..

The good thing is that they've recognized the weaknesses of the monoshock and have addressed them (cable, W arm ect). I don't think we'll have too many problems.

Only one problem with the new sleds. Many people are going to get addicted to the throttle response :D

The Apex/Attak should be very reliable.
Chassis wise it is an RX with the steering column on the other side of the hoop.

The EFI is well tested on other Yamaha products. Basically this is similar to Robert Bosch EFI systems that started to appear on German cars in 1967.

The monoshock has numerous improvements.
Plenty of things to worry about in life, but this aint one of them :D

You guys crack me up. You have the best of the best and dont seem to know it . You should have road like us old timers back in the late 60s and early 70s when we road 1 hour and worked 5 hours on it . 4" of travel on a good sled, and no groomed trails. 3/8" cleated track and had to break trail. Now that was fun. I just cant wait for the problems I,ll with my new sleds. NOTANY to worry about and if so who cares. Its supposed to be fun and not worry about what might happen.. Just have a great time ridding.. :D :D

sxmatt give it a chance. I'll give you a list of my cat problems that wrecked my seasons!!!!!!!!!
81 eltigre, major suspension, clutch, never could get it running right
92 ext under 3,000 miles clutch broke, crank broke 2 different occasions
98zrt waterpump blew 3 times and crappy kitty/dealer wouldnt cover
2-99 sx700 no problems
03 RX-1 7,500 miles driver bearing (covered by yamaha) couple of service updates, I HAVE NEVER HAD TO BEEN TOWED OFF THE TRAIL WHILE RIDING A YAMAHA... TAKE A CHILL PILL AND RELAX ;)!

HAVE FUN AND BE CAREFUL

Guys I think many of you are reading into this too much. I am not sitting around worring about what MAY go wrong with my attack. One of the reasons I ride a Yamaha is the reliability of their products. I expect there will be some first issuses, my hope is they are minor so that I don't loose and riding time. We all know the season is so short as it is.

I am not trying to be negative or pessimistic.

Thanks
Matt
