"FIX" Engine brake problem

RED800 said:
is it just mine, when i let off the gas,the engine brakes a little then it releases and rolls until i hit the brake..do u guys know what im talking about
Yes, this is normal. Watch your tachometer to see the rpm where you feel the release then compare that to the rpm where you feel the clutches engage. I'm betting the rpm's are pretty close.

I am soo usto the engine braking after owning 3 fourstroke sleds that alot of the time i catch my self holding the throttle and hitting the brake at a stop sign at the same time..

Sometimes i wish i didnt have the engine braking but most of the time im glad that i do..

After my buds first rides on their Attak and Apex, this will come as a relief to them and me. I was expecting that maybe a ECM programming change could be done to keep the engine from returning to idle immediately. Is there no detriment to a high idle. Is there no TPS calibration that needs to be done with the FI. A higher idle was the first thing that I felt would help 'cause your never gonna push that motor by the center shaft of the primary when it's open. The Attak rider is comin off a Poo XC8 and the Apex rider is comin off an 03 Rev8 and the precise throttle control is tough to get used to.

Feels kindu good to be back here.

Cheers

BTW...........UR friends will soon learn 2 hate driving behind U....

.... BECAUSE U NEVER USE THE BRAKE.............NO BRAKE LIGHT :D :D
Yea, thats no joke. I almost got nailed from behind several times already, I now try to tap the break to flash the lights. But its better than being in the back, sucking 2 smoke!

The effect of the engine braking will fade after 2500 mi. or so. You can't belive the diff. between a broken in machine and a new one! You will be using your brakes at 2500 mi.! Mike Knapp #17

I can see most of the people on here are die hard Yammy guys. I was trying to help out the new guys that are comming from a ski doo or polaris that find the braking annoying. On tite trails where i'm from my doo 800 corner to corner would leave an rx1 in the dust HANDS DOWN !!! By setting my idel at about 1600 even 1700 it really helps BIG TIME. Don't worry yammy guys it doesn't kill the braking that much at higher speeds. You guys do alot of talking but you probaly haven't tryed it yet. First try it then give an honest reply. IF YOU CAN BE HONEST........

Happy trails...

OH ! I forgot something. That $100 bucks was slaped right in my hand after i beat my friends apex gt by 2 1/2 sled lengths. Just the week before we were dead even. He wanted the little trick i did. LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
