anyone noticing how the front clutch will just snap open at about 25mph when you let off the throttle and it just coasts after that ? then when you give it gas it engages really quick, doesnt seem smooth like my rx1 was, throttle really touchy but the front clutch is just snapping open at low speeds when you let off the gas, gonna be hard to get used to that if thats how they are gonna be,be hard to follow gramps thru the woods lol

That must be why the Snowtech thing indicated a softer primary spring would assist in limiting EB.

it not engine braking, when you let off the throttle, its that powerhouse under the hood letting the suspention know how much it weighs. wouldnt trade it for the world.

I think what alot of the new yamaha owners don't realise is that this year on the Apex models they added gear reduction to the 4cly engine. The clutch no longer mounts directly to the crank shaft. By adding this gear reduction the engine braking is alot more than what prior years were.
A quick solution for now is to turn the idel up to at least 1700rpms, 1800rpms is even better for now until a permanent fix is found. But for now this fix works pretty good. At least in my opinion.

The Yammi 4's have always had gear reduction. The 3's like in the Vector and Nytro didn't and still don't because they don't turn as high an RPM, but the RX1 did from day 1. Where did you get that info from?? Yikes.

Actually, if you look at the subject of the thread it does say it's a problem.
i think apexer,is right they did add a gear reduction this year,so now where is this $100.00 fix to beating my buds, dont make me ask again

All the 4 cylinder models have always had the gear reduction. They just changed the ratio this year.

But the ratio change may be part of what is making the engine braking more pronounced on the Apex/Attak as compared to the RX-1/Warrior.

Yep your right! I am thinking that the lighter crank shaft also will slow down quicker adding to the increased engine breaking.

OK! Here its is. I wanted to wait and start another topic and take some fotos for the people that arn't sure how to do this.
The apex comes with a 51/43 helix and spring is in #6 posistion (stock)
Buy a 50/40 helix and put the spring in #6 posistion. Takes about 15min.
If you run nothing but groomed trails, and don't do much tight trail riding then get the 49/39 helix and leave the spring in #6
If your fully studded make sure the spring is in #6 on the 50/40
Now you have a rocket under ya! For about $89.00

Put a softer spring in the primary. I did this to mine to bring this over achiving engine back under control. Got my RPMs back in the 10,200 range. This also helped the jerky feeling that you are feeling.
