The sled's fuel should be tuned after you add air intake mods, especially ram air intakes. Use a fuel accellerator, pciii, or whatever.

So I ordered a programmer from Ulmer to fix all that and make it worth while.
Let you know once it snows
My 06 Attak runs so rich there is always black soot in the tail pipes. People don't like to follow me it stinks like a rich old two stroke.
Some times I add 30% E-85 to lean it out the tail pipes get very clean then.. mine has always been rich and mileage rather bad.. has beat all other stock sleds in drag races too .... I have an MSRP exhaust to put on it. I am hoping I can gain a couple HP with that ..

Smart man,i have run most of these mods, with no noticable gaines, and i run gps all the time to varify..KevinS said:I ran Ulmer's mod airbox last year on my attak. There was no noticeable performance difference over stock. Sold it and am now back to stock.
Adding a PCV to the mix made no difference either.

Re: Apex Ram air
I checked those out on e-bay & they look nice. Are they just as good as the other brands? After researching it I found out that it is made by Bohn Designs. Anybody else have any experience with these lids & is there any loss in reliability using these or any other modded lids?
Thanks.....& let it snow dammit,lol!!

I could not find these under Ram Air, but Apex Ram Air finds them.
He raised his price a lot since I bought mine. He has several designs now.
Buy it now $175.00 now

Does the stock airbox pull hot air, or why put holes in the lid?

Re: ramair
I sent him a message asking him if he "guarantees" those mph increases with just his lid installed & low & behold, he did not reply back! lol
Install lid, then drive off cliff, then maybe gain the 10-15 mph!
Anyway, after hearing about the bohn lid on e-bay, I sent him an offer on one & he accepted it. Won't tell the price I got it for, but much, much less than the fix one, cheapeer shipping as well!
Probably won't see any speed gains or more performance but it looks good as well has a nice deep throaty tone.
The fix lids sell for $260 + $35 for shipping on e-bay. That seems like alot of money for a lid but if the the sled gains what he claims (+10-15 mph) it would be worth it.Highmiler said:Do the k+n's delete the box completely? How much more power vs just lid?? Lastly, a guy on eBay sells lid kit which look pretty nice...flames, stainless steel, etc. Do you think his lid kits make as much power as fix or hauck lids? Or are those kits just for looks? Thanks.

Re: ramair
X2. The Bohn lid looks by far the best IMHO. I don't even care if it adds HP, it just looks swanky and adds much needed bling to a blah area on the sled. And I found the same thing -- Bohn will accept lower offers on fleabay.
Incidentally, that lid for the newer Apex (2011- 2012's lid) Bohn makes looks even more awesome than previous models. His pic of the red 2011 with his billet ram air airbox mod is awesome....

He said he will send me one non painted at my request as I want to polish it to match the chrome registration numders & the polished stainless thats on the tunnel sides. I am looking into getting a chrome windshield like yours also.
It seems that all the manufacturers of ram air lids claim anywhere from 5-15mph gains! Everyone who has posted here pretty much agrees on 0 mph gained except on first rip down the lake, lol!!
Oh well, looks good & apparently sounds great also, 2 out three, not bad!hahaha
Maybe I gain one mph with the new CR10EK's!lol

You will need to get into the sleds stock computer, and richen up several parts of the fuel curve,it only allows so much,so dont worrie, you wont burn it up,if you go to ulmers site,i think allen has a go to section, that takes you thru it,step by step, for any lid,and maybe even his mod,he does to your stock box, bottom. What you will notice with the lid,is way more engine noise, your buds will hear you coming.

+10-15 MPH from adding a ram air lid? Please. Unless that lid comes with a turbo charger included, that is a silly claim.

Thanks for that tip as I was under the assumpion that with no other mods on my sled I didn't have to make any adjustments.
I bought this sled primarily because it has probably the most reliable enging on the plannet, I don't intend on compromizing that reliability by installing something improperly.
Thanks again & I will look into these adjustments to richen the sled.

Ranger1,its really not a big deal,to do,and like i said,it will only allow so much messing around,if i remember right, what it does when you install the lid,is a stumble right off engagement, and when you either richen or lean it out at part throttle,it cleans that stumble up,like i said,i am preety sure allen on his site, has instructions on how to do it,it does require a special tool though, a paperclip,if i remember right again lol!!!

Was that on your 06 apex,if so,was that after you installed the yamcharger,or did you do it all at once? I have yet to see a 10 mph gain with just the lid.sheetwright said:The one I had on mine added 10mph, back shift like Gordan, and made you feel like you were Hefner on a slow night lmao
