What's the difference and advantage of a flash with or without a 3 bar map sensor, which is the better route?

I like running the 3Bar maps because you know what's going on. You can see how much boost you're making. If you're running the 270 tune or higher I recommend it.

The better the info for the ECU the more reliable the motor will be I would say. If you’re making boost beyond what the stock map can read you’re giving the ECU unreliable data to make decisions.

Reason for asking is that I have a buddy that want's to swap ecu's, he's got hurricane 270 flash that doesnt require the 3 bar map sensor, should I go for it or stay away?

The 270R tunes run flawless and don't require a 3Bar sensor to run. If you do want to more closely monitor your boost you can add the 3Bar sensor which will require the 3Bar map update

Its my understanding Hurricane now tailors their tune bundles (Stock Muffler and Performance) for a 3 bar sensor, maybe in the earlier tune generations they didn't, but recently they have been recommending 3 bar, especially for stock muffler tunes.
If you have a recent tune bundle set up to look for a 3 bar sensor, it will throw and error message and sled will not run right if you try and run a 2 bar (stock) sensor. So basically the tune is set up for one sensor or the other, would need to contact Hurricane to understand why they prefer 3-bar across the board now.

The Hurricane stock muffler 270 flash will have more predictable boost control and will make more Hp with a three bar map sensor.this year many guys decided to add a three bar sensor to the 240-270&290 performance muffler flashes. This often created an overboost condition and subsequent boost cut. As a result we created all new flashes for the three bar map sensor to be used with performance mufflers. The new three bar performances muffler flashes are 240-270&300hp.

Dave is it good, doesn’t give you any more, correct? Like I have your 270 performance with 2bar map, going to 3 bar with reflash for it, will it be different, still 270 hp right.

There is no difference in the 270 tune whether its the 2 bar or 3 bar, its still 270-275 and runs the same. With the three bar however you get the 300 tune in place of the 290.

Nothing wrong with the stock 2 bar either way.

Didn't Dave replay on post #8 "The Hurricane stock muffler 270 flash will have more predictable boost control and will make more Hp with a three bar map sensor."

Read it closer. Thats for the STOCK MUFFLER flashes, not the performance or tune for higher flow mufflers.

I just had the stock muffler tune done 225,240,270 should I have it and can I go up to 290 with stock muffler? I also added the dalton weights but would like to come out of the hole quicker what's your thought
