Flatlander going out west.

If going to the mountains should have a air bag vest like KbxSrx is selling would be the best along with a beacon and shovel. Or a beacon shovel and probe.

Seriously IMO, if you are gonna do any sort of off trail riding, i would rent mountain sleds out there. I have been out there a few times, and we've always rented some longtrack stuff out there. The one day some guys on 121's tried to follow us and the literally made it about 50' off the trail before they were all buried. The attack would be a little better, but nothing like a 151 with a 2" paddle.

I drilled out my weights on the clutch. Yamaha also says to change the top gear and chain on the gear case. I opted not to do that. I am heading to Wyoming Friday night. I also have the mountain skis installed. I lived in Colorado and snowmobiled for 5 years with a short track.

I find as long as the rider knows how to control the throttle and go off the trail with speed and then the trick is too maintain your speed. You can even break trail with a short track as long as you dont get too fancy on your turns. Always stop if you have too on the top of a burm or hill so when you take off again you are going downhill to get your speed up again.

Well you wont be doing any boon docking but you can get up there and play a little on the harder packed stuff.

You may want to pick up a O-S-O primary spring for out west. This will leave engagement stock but raise the rpm throughout the shift curve.

;)! ;)! ;)!

It wasn't to long ago that a 136" track was the longest and we thought it was the greatest. just go and have fun, park headed down hill, stay on the upper side of the road, and always leave yourself a way out.
