I'm sure I've read on here about someone using Ford coils instead of the Yamaha ones, same coil fraction of cost. I've taken mine out and cleaned them, very dirty, and I've noticed the tips of the plugs look like someone has taken a file down one side. Three of the four sit tight but one is a little loose. I'm wondering if the Ford coils are a valid option.

coils

i tried them with mixed results low rpm was good but at the higher rpm it was not good . i will try them late this year as i found a crack in one of my carbs that could have been the problem not the coils . in other word nothing positive yet .

must be a chebby guy...
no one is perfect I guess :D

I have some spare Ford COP's I could try.

there about 30.00 a coil less money and they have the same restance in ohms as the stock coils and other than needing screw no plug caps they are a plug and play . :flag:

by sho, I assume you meant sohc?
the bend in the coil boot doesnt get in the way?

The part # for the 4.6 & 5.4 coil is 3W7Z-12029-AA Ford or DG-508 Motorcraft. Retail $92.58, we sell for $74.99 I will sell to anyone from TY for $54.16 plus shipping. I haven't seen these side by side but Im not sure the would work.
