New guy here. Been reading for a while and got some good info from y'all. Thanks. Got a new one here though. I noticed a buzzing/grinding sound from the front end while out riding last week. Upon further inspection up on blocks, the right side front wheel was making a clicking noise when turned. To make a long story as short as possible, I tore out the differential and brought it into the shop, and took it apart because that's where I narrowed it down to by process of elimination. It turns out to be the ring and pinion meshing together is where the noise is coming from. I'm talking a lot of noise too. But here's the kicker, nothing is wrong in there, no bad bearings, no metal shavings, everything's meshing great but it just makes a lot of noise. I bought this thing used and didn't notice it at first so I think it just started doing it recently. Can anyone help with this?? Any info would be greatly appreciated because a new diff is a GRAND$$$ Thank you!

Did you check the outside axel joint. I broke mine.

yeah I checked all that. Like I said the noise is coming right from the ring and pinion. It's when you turn the pinion gear you can hear it meshing very loudly with the ring gear. Thank you for the reply though. I think I may have to drop the dough on a new pinion gear (175 cheapest I can find). Let me know if anyone knows of some used parts or cheaper new. THANX!!

You need some prussian blue and a shim set.
If the pinion and ring heli gear teeth are meshing at the wrong pentration and or angle of attack, they will make lots of noise. Over time, they will erode and become so worn that the lash will start to grow.
You need to clean everything in there real good and shim it correctly. I would use new bearings while you are at it.
