I pulled the heat shield off under the gas tank to try to get at the last rivets for the tunnel protectors. Failed attempt, but what I did notice was that thermal cloth is all falling apart and right above where each exhaust tube is, it was gone. So that heat shield would be more like a heat conductor with the bare aluminum showing in some spots. Any one else notice that?

Also since I had to drill the rivets out, I need to replace 16 of them. I had some 3/16" (4.7mm) and they looked to be a bit too small. I'm assuming they are metric and the next biggest size is 5mm?

Check your exhaust gaskets too. If they're leaking, as mine were, it will burn out the insulation - right above the flex joints. I used some heat shield material from Moose Racing to patch my system.

You can get rivets thru McMaster.com. Look at the high-strength steel units.

Is there another way besides running the sled with the fuel tank set off to the side. I still am under warranty till mid December so maybe I'll just bring it in to them... I do have header wrap left over from my truck exhaust, maybe I'll use that.
