Put a large hole in my front heat exchanger from a pulled stud?. Its an 05 Vector. I searched and only find removal for other models. What kind of a job is it to pull? I believe its way to big to "patch" and up to far to weld. I think it needs to be replaced. Thanks Paul

You'll need to pull the chain case and track. Order yourself a pack of 50 rivets from OFT. You'll need to drill out around 30 rivets so when replacing them it's best to have a air rivet gun. I've had some large holes patched by a local welder but you may find a good used heat exchanger with a little searching.
I took a few pictures last time I did one. Next time I'll try putting together a complete procedure.

A stud went thru my 05 about 3 years ago. I found a guy that welds race car frames together and he did an A1 job on welding it shut. The local dealer uses him to weld exchangers too. If you weld it, don't just go to any guy that says he can tig weld.....find the best.
Also, having the exchanger as free of coolant and moisture is important. After draining the system, I blew air thru the exchanger for a long time. The guy complemented me on a job well done.

Is that $300 with labor? I've had them welded for $30-$40 and charged around $180 labor for pulling it.

I took my heat exchanger totally out and brought it to a welder who took care of it and charged $25.00. I didn't want any electrical charges from the welder going through my wiring system. I also found my starter cable had worn through from rubbing on the motor.

Between $250 and $300 All I have to do is drop it off and pick it up. They will pull skid and put back in. I really don't have the expertise to pull the track out!! Thanks for all the replies. Paul [still a newbie after 6 years on this site!!]
