I was on a remote sled trip last week and on the last day had the fuel pump relay froze up and wouldn't start. I read on the forums before to try pouring hot water over it. Well I was very happy that that worked. Yesterday I went to the local Yamaha dealer and picked up a new solid state one to replace it and they gave me an interesting tip that I will be trying. With your old relay if it is still good put it in a bag of rice like you would a cell phone if you got it wet and leave it to dry out completely. After it is dry tape off the prongs and spray paint the relay to seal it from moisture. Should work the same as the new solid state relay. They claimed the only real difference between the two relay's is the red ones are sealed and the black ones were not
