Any pics of fuel shut off's. Since the system crashed the pics do not come up any more. Any info on the trailering with a full tank?

Here's a shot at the valves along with my yeller pre-filters

Ok, next question. Are the shutoffs really needed?

Probably not, but they make for piece of mind. They are also handy if you want to run the carbs dry at season end.

Mighty,

Where did you get the fuel shut off block?
Thanks in advance,

Ron M
It was a bracket from something, sorry, but I don't remember from what. I found it in a junk drawer I have in my shop. Now that I think of it, I may have another one. If you can't figure something to use I'll mail you one if you want.

Here is my install. I didn't use any type of bracket; just installed them right at the bend and have not had any problems to-date.

What size are the valves? 1/4" or are they someting larger?

Yes you DO need them. Carb floats will vibrate as you move. If the engine is running, the extra fuel just gets burned, but if the engine is off, the fuel pushes into the cylinders and down into the oil, and that ain't good. So if you trailer more than a few miles, you should use them and if you don't have them, which is everyone who didn't put them on aftermarket from yamaha, then by all means put them on. Polaris puts them on at the factory. Nobody will notice the thinning down of the oil but the engine wear will be significant, at least as far as I am concerned it is not worth the chance to take. Simple step, but it will surely keep the gas from flowing. Put one on the carb heater line as well, then you can start the machine without having to crack the throttle all the time. Put it in and shut the valve off by about 7/8. On cold days open it more, and on warm ones you can shut it right off.

Also even more important if you trailer with a full tank of gas. Doing so will put more force on the feed line and this causes the leakage to be worse. So now you know.

The yamaha one in there catolog are 1/4". They are kind of pticey though. You can get the same ones through Parts Unlimited for have price.
