Is there any aftermarket gas caps that are lockable fit on yamaha snowmobiles? too many gas theives and jealous people add like sugar to snowmobile gas tanks, I dont have a shop/garage built yet, but a lockable gas cap would do for now, does anyone know if such item is available? it didnt happen to me yet ( knock on wood ) but friends of mine found sugar in their fuel line filters, and stolen gas from there snowmobiles past years. and since i got my Fx Nytro Xtx here in this small community, ive heard a rumor or 2 that there are jealous guys about my ride lol, i dont understand why, but some people are just like that i guess. I have a water separator filter, didnt install yet, feels to hot under the hood, is it safe to install a fuel filter? i dont want to risk installing a filter due to the heat under the hood, this is my first 4 stroke snow mobile, so far i like the insane torque hole shot ride.

:yam:

I suppose that it is too cold where you live to get a big dog and chain him to your sled at night? LOL

Seriously, I do not know of any locking gas caps for sleds. It sure sucks that you have to deal with people like that where you live.

I know that the skidoo dealer sells lockable gas caps here not sure who they are made by or if you can get them for yamis tho.. funny if you can't... we have the same problem here with gas thieives i live in a small town and everyone knows who they are but the police don't do anything about it so i put my sled in the garage every night.

love to get one those billet gas caps they have for the sleds, afraid someone will take it at bar or restuarant, them i'm left with snow in my tank if it snows!! :die

Although we are slightly off topic here since the billet gas caps are not lockable, I agree that they are a very tempting target for thieves.

If I were to install a billet gas cap I would always carry the stock one with me so that I had a back-up just in case the billet one was stolen during a ride.

buy a mean-#*$&@ dog, tie him to the sled with 10 foot rope, beat him 6 days a week, feed him on the seventh. you will not have theft problems with the sled and if you do just follow the trail, drip, drip, drip.
