i've noticed that i'm not getting the same mileage i did last year i was all stock. this year i put on clucth kit (witch is freaking awsome) and 162 stud's but i've lost close to 2 miles per gallon just wondering if the kit and stud's would cause this. thank's

That would be very possible. You should loose top end speed with studs too.

I am just flying by the seat of my pants with guesstimate #s for the studs.
Yeah they probably cost you 1/2 of a MPG because it is more rotational weight that you are spooling up and down. At a given speed they dont cost you much because you have already overcome accel inertia.
Clutch kit......sure. Some are tuned to make you the fastest drag racer and that is it. Ulmer I know tries to keep it also good for trailriding and I know he doesnt want the MPG to tank.
Yamaha tries to go a good job stock, giving you most of the speed, yet keeping the trailability and as MUCH MPG intact as possible.
Clutching involves a few compromises here and there sometimes

I use just slightly more fuel then Buds stocker...in same trail ride....probably within a dollar when we fillup...
and I have alot done to my sled, with proline/dalton clutching, ram air and ride pretty agressive....
IMO,you dont lose much....
you may be comparing to another year with different type conditions...
IMO,you can never compare mileage or radar speeds from day to another day...its never gonna be the same.
temps, trail conditions, wet or dry snow..lakes or trails riding...only way to truly compare is to ride with a buddy so you can see who uses more...then check again after adding clutch kit against same buddy while he stayed stock.

exactly...it cannot be done....conditions vary too much from day to day, much less yr to yr.
put stock clutching in..run with a buddy..see if you are equal..then put clutch kit in...run with same buddy and see if you put in more.
this will tell you if you use more..calculating mileage IMO doesnt work from one condtion to another...i can get from 80 miles to tank one day to 120 to tank next day...everyday is different.

I also have lost 2mpg with my clutch kit. I blame this on the stiff sec.spring that is causing my rpms to be higher at crusing speed. Ihave the proline kit set at 9 and 2.

Guys one of the biggest culprits is the Duelly's.Markham Mower proved it with many customer's 2 to 3 MPH.I think thats stretching it a little but Mine just came off this weekend I never really went anywhere other than the Chili Fest in Dwight but noticed instantley less drag backing out of my garage. Bill
last year i got between 15&16 mpg no matter how fats or slow i rode.i'll keep track of it but i'm not gonna take out my kit raced a friend who has 07 800 doo that is in the 440 chasis it comes with the little studs in the track 272 of the little bastards and he has dds clutch kit and i still beat him i got prolly 50 pounds on him. i very happy with the kit

While I agree that ride to ride and day to day conditions vary and therefore MPG is hard to compare without a reference. But one way you can tell if your are losing MPG is to compare yourself to your riding buddies (if you typically ride with the same group). Say if last year his sled was always using less fuel than sled Z,Y & Z in his group but this year his sled is using more than X, Y & Z then you can tell you lost MPG (or they gained).
