Are you hammering on them? Just like when you drive your car/truck, hammering the throttle and hard acceleration will ruin gas mileage (and parts!).
I probably do drive like "granny" compared to some of you guys, going fairly light on the throttle (7000-8000 rpm) during acceleration on smooth trails, and settling down to cruise around 50 mph on those trails (6500-7000, depending upon conditions). I get 15-16 mpg, best ever was 17.5, worst was 14. My RX-1 got 20 once in Quebec, averaged around 17 most of the time.

And weather and trail conditions do a lot to change gas mileage, also altitude...
just below freezing you get crapy mileage, if the trail is soft, you get crapy mileage.. etc...

I hammer on it every once and a while. It is all stock with 300 miles on it. I ride in Ma and Nh and the trails are sometimes are windy and bumpy. My brother also gets the same MPGs as we ride togther. This weekend we did 119 miles on 9 gallons of gas and my sons 03 Viper got the same mpgs as us.

I never seen a belt disinigrate like this before and all the cords wrapped around my secondary under the sheaves and took me and my buddy on another apex over 30 minutes to clean up the mess.yamahahaapex said:900cfi said:I did awesome today got 12mpg cdn riding like an old man gas light came on at 69 miles.lol Blew my first belt at 1580 miles and broke the spare belt holder, looks like my secondary bolt is bent a bit.I really hope this week the yammie dealer can figure this piece of poop out.

I have the exact same sled as you and ran it last year 6500kms on the same belt and is still good but for peace of mind I threw a new 1 one and kept it for a spare, check your clutches for aligment and deflection it must be out and make sure your secondary is free floating also check the jack shaft bearing behind your secondary, for gas milage like I said earlier I'm in the mid teen's 15 give or take.
Yeah I'm taking it to the shop so they can give it a good check over.I have lost alot of mileage and lastyear I was better than my bud's and now he kills me in the fuel range.apltx08 said:900cfi said:I never seen a belt disinigrate like this before and all the cords wrapped around my secondary under the sheaves and took me and my buddy on another apex over 30 minutes to clean up the mess.yamahahaapex said:900cfi said:I did awesome today got 12mpg cdn riding like an old man gas light came on at 69 miles.lol Blew my first belt at 1580 miles and broke the spare belt holder, looks like my secondary bolt is bent a bit.I really hope this week the yammie dealer can figure this piece of poop out.

Did 123.9 miles today, gas guage was 1 click below 1/2 when I filled up it held 27.5 litres which coverts to 6.1 Imperial gallons. This gives me 20 miles per gal. This ride today was not my normal riding style!!! The conditions were great for fuel economy here in western Quebec. My chums sleds were,2007 F1000 17 miles per gal.,2005 F6 18 per gal.,2009 Bomb.800 18 per gal.,2005 Vector 24 per gal. With all said and done it's hard to beat the 4 stroke
Not mine.lol I did 70 miles today and put in 27 litres.cat hunter said:Did 123.9 miles today, gas guage was 1 click below 1/2 when I filled up it held 27.5 litres which coverts to 6.1 Imperial gallons. This gives me 20 miles per gal.
