One or the other is only needed. In the past I used Stabil for storage and then after that tank was used up, I'd run some Seafoam in it. Now I just use Seafoam for storage and a few times throughout the season.
Actually last summer mine sat with nothing in the gas and the tank was 3/4 full. Started them a couple times during the summer filled them up with fresh gas and drove them.
