Some people are very defensive about things they pay for. They just don't want to admit that mechanical failure is possible. Fact is that everything mechanical can and WILL break. Could have been a bad batch of gears shipped out. One of the sumo wrestlers they hire to tighten bolts might have accidentally dropped his mawashi into the steel vat, thus contaminating it. The nay-sayers are using shipping as an excuse to try to cover up a mechanical failure.

Yes I agree,
but when people first join a forum they usually introduce themselves... or ask a question, and the ones that have 1 post and talk crap about their machine, on any forum, are usually trolls trying to start something, IMHO.
I apoligize if I jumped the gun, but theres too much "hear say" or rumours, if you had pics its one thing, but with one post, no pics, total engine failure... hmmm you can see why some of us were a bit hostile.
On an aside though, this brings back memorys of this post:

After that I talked to the guy and he told me that in fact it was the reduction gear that had broke down on his sled. Also, it did not happend after only a few total miles on it. It happened that day after driving some miles.
I see what you are trying to do here BV1 I did not state anything I refereed what I have read on a different forum than this.
If this break down is real then I know about 3 total engine failure on this 500 engine. Two with broken reduction gears and one with fatal crank bearings colaps. With total I meen that yamaha have changed the broken one with a brand new, no rebuilding.

Re: Why should I lie!
There's a lot of brand loyal goofballs on this site that don't realize that most people don't go posting on websites when everything is good with their new sled. These Phazers are having a lot of problems, and anyone wearing their full yamaha apparel seems to have to defend the corporation just because they happen to like their products. The Phazer is a problematic sled from a generally good company. But your sled could have blown up and killed you, with your wife posting the story, and someone from team blue would still defend.......
PS sorry I was riding instead of sitting in front of a keyboard posting all winter.

It was not the dealer who had the spare engine, it was Yamaha Scandinavia that had one engine!
It was the "gearing" between the engine and the primary clutch that had " exploded"!
And yes the track did lock up just right when it happened because the engine/primary clutch stopped.
The sled had 370 km on the speedo!
I´m from Skellefteå in the northern part of Sweden!
Pic´s of the disaster will be posted as soon as I get them!
This is my first post so that makes me a liar!!!!!!!!! :ORC
Sorry for my bad english, it´s hard to explain something in a diffrent language!

Did you happen to notice if yours that blew reduction gears had more or less of a whine noise to it especially under a bit of throttle on stand?
I have noticed that the whine noise is louder on some than others. Not saying noise means anything since gears make noise.Just wondering since I noticed different levels of noise in different Phazers.
