hey guys I plan to run my sled in a few events this year keeping the sled cool is my biggest concern since I can watch the temp gauge climb pretty quick on the ice with a 270 tune and ill most likely be running a little more power during the drags when I was younger I ran a 03 F5 all summer and I just used bags of ice on the heat exchanger and that worked fine but I'm thinking that probably won't be enough for the winder? Iv seen a lot of guys with a homemade cooling system out of a cooler that just quick connects to the sled curious if I should make something like that or if anyone on here had some other ideas that work

Yes, the cooler system works great, wahlbros racing I believe sells the setup.

think I would get by without using one?

The only way you'll get by without using one is if you have a couple hours between runs. You could try 3 or 4 fans and blowing into the engine compartment, but a 4-stroke holds a ton of heat in the engine.

Thank you for the info! Looks like I’ll have to figure out how to make one

Buy connectors to attach to sled, wahls sells the connectors, regular water hose, a cooler, attach hose to small 12 volt water pump, after run, connect to sled, then to cooler, which is filled with water or antifreeze and ICE, you hook pump to 12v, BOAT BILGE PUMP in cooler push water to one side of sled and return other side sled back to cooler, thus cooling it. Hope I said this right, you probably have some of these parts in garage.

Run windshield washer fluid onto hyfax, attach small plastic bottle with a valve to shut off fluid, two small lines to hayfax each side, at line open valve will start flowing to hayfax making it slippery, WOT or real soapy water

I bought some slide lube from turbo dynamics they say it’s good stuff

is there a certain coolant hose on the sled I should use? And as far as the quick connects can I leave them on the sled come winter time when I ride the trails I wouldn’t think it would matter but just double checking don’t want a leak

Back in my grass drag days, I made a cooling cart using a ice chest, RV water pump (the type that supplies water to the sink etc) a car battery and quick connect fittings. I filled the ice chest with ice water and it worked really well.
For quick connects I just used the plastic type. During sledding season when I put anti-freeze and the thermostat back in the sled I would remove the quick connects and install a hose coupler.
If thing are going your way, meaning your making lots of passes, then you will want to bring plenty of extra ice.;)
