2005 RX1
I hear a grinding noise from the brake area when the sled is first accelerating forward like its not engaging in the forward mode completely. It does accelerate OK and does not make this noise in reverse.
Is there a adjustment to make it engage better or could it be something else?
Thank You

If the emergency brake or caliper is not hanging up then its got to be a bearing, gear or the chain in the chaincase.

I would remove the linkage from the reverse then run it . If the grinding goes away you know it's the adjustment. And yes it can be adjusted.

How do you go about doing the adjustment?

Could this be a fluid issue?

update: crank case fluid level was topped off was kinda low. Also disconnected the gear shift linkage and noise still exists.
You can hear the grinding as soon as the track spins. Its very hard to hear when the sled is on the ground or driving on the snow. The noise can easily be mistaken for the studs hitting on ice or pavement.

Are you sure that this is not your track ratcheting? Try tightening up your track a bit evenly on both sides and dont over do it.

Try putting your sled on a stand and turn the secondary by hand, have someone watch jackshaft bearings, drive shaft bearings, and play with drive chain tension. Remember the gear reduction on the primary does make a little chatter, but of its a sled your used to, youd know if its different

Update: Took the sleds up north (didn't drive this one obviously)
Track is tight.
Adjusting drive chain tension does nothing.
Small leak under crank case. Fluid has metal shavings.
sled makes noise in reverse now.
Not going to #*$&@ with it anymore. Had a few people look at it up there and one said its the studs (he was very hillbilly, didn't have anything newer then 95 around his shop) The other mechanic said its something in the chain case like a bearing or gear. Either-way this is going somewhere to get fixed. Just wondering what is up with this thing.

Then it has to be your drive bearings this would be a good time to add extroverts while you got it all apart for the bearings.
