Anyone have any complaints with their hand warmers? Mine feel like they are barely working, even it they are. The thumb warmer is hot! Anyone know how to check the hand warmers?

There where a few guys complaining about them last season, but mine get good and hot. I have to turn them down most of the time.

First real ride I took on the fx my hands were freezing. What I found was where you have the hand gaurds is a major factor in how well they work. I ended tipping mine down allot so that it would keep the wind off my finger tips. Hot since then..

I found them to be adequate. I wouldnt say they are the best handwarmes ever put on a snowmobile, but they arent the worst either.
I think a lot of how good are bad you think they are is personal preference. Different people have a different cold tolorance and whether or not you have handguard or a windshield and whether you wear thick gloves or thin snocross gloves can make a big difference.
When I demo rode that GT last February it was -20 that day, I wore thin snocross gloves (Yamaha Team Cross gloves to be exact), kept the handwarmers on high for the entire demo ride and my hands werent cold. Granted, the handwarmers didnt even come close to being too hot, but I didnt freeze either.

I find it weird that you guys are having this issue. I have had no windsheild and no hand guards since I got it and they get way too hot for me to use and I ride in -10 to -30 all the time.

i put different bars and grips on, i never put hand warmers back on as i never turned them on any how. i ride with the yamaha race glove that has insulation in them, my hands stay hot enough

I wear MX gloves and if on high they will be so hot I have to turn them down.Might be something wrong with those that dont heat.Mine doesnt have the curved barends.Maybe those with that style bar have different heaters?

The handlbar hooks could be a large part of the problem.
Correct me if Im wrong on this one, but I thought that they found a large part of the problem with the Apex's handwarmers was that the barends were disappating heat much moreso than the rest of the handlebars and that since most people rested their hands on the hooks, thats why it felt like the handwarmers didnt work very well.
Didnt Yamaha address this issue by replacing the plastic hooks with aluminum ones (or vice-versa)?

i turn them down, they get plenty hot,i remember back in the day, everybody used mitts instead of gloves, never any problems with cold hands, gloves are just plain cold compared to mitts,i have bought $200 gloves and still froze,a $40 pair of mitts and you have to turn the heathers down,i still prefer to ride with gloves but i always have a pair of spare mitts when i ride,or gauntlets,my 2 cent

Ive personally never been a fan of mittens. I find it much harder to grip the handelbars with mittens.
Also, how do you do hand signals with mittens? Ive got a pair of thick Yamaha FXR Team Gauntlet gloves that I wear when its really cold out. I personally dont like them because they are all thick and bulky, but when Im wearing the thin snocross gloves and my hands start to go number with the handwarmers on high, bulky gloves are better than frostbit hands.
