I did this mod myself about a month ago on my Nytro.
Although I welded a new lever on to the reverse lever axis that extends out from the chaincase,
and from it a wire up to a lever on the handlebar.
So no mechanical linkage left, didn't get around to weight the parts eliminated though..
and no pics :-/

Sounds good, I will capture the linkage weights, it has to be 3-5lbs I bet. Mine never works and freezes up so I am excited to drop weight and hopefully make it better. Pretty cool mod!

I managed to get my mother out in the garage a few hundred km' a away from me and snap a few photos,
although I think only one do any good here, she wasn't quite up to speed with what she was supposed to catch.
Ok, so the lever is now pulled directly inwards the side of the chassis instead of being pushed down towards the ground by the levers. The mounting point of my wire is obscured in the picture. But you get the point, right?
