Handwarmer Issue--anyone know how to bipass the 4500 RPM

Dealer called Yamaha and according to them, the way the warmers are wired, they do not come on until the machine is operating at 4500RPM, when you are on and off the throttle in turny trails, this could explain why these things are not fully heating up. My theory is to bipass the 4500 RPM cue for the warmers to kick on---any electrical gurus out there have any ideas on this ?
 
Thats not true at least on my 03 the warmers have voltage at idle but the engine dosent make alot of current until you rev up the engine... Its more about the engine not producing enough current at idle as it does at 4500 +

you could prolly wire them into the battery but you would loose the guage and the factory switchs as you would have to add your own switch.

and coming off the battery you get straight DC heating elements dont like DC they prefer AC and that comes from the sleds magnito.
 
They may get MORE current as the engine revs up, but they do work to some degree at idle. I know this because if I start mine up and let it warm up in the garage at idle the warmers get hot to the touch with bare hands.
 
Well if that's the case, someone tell me why then with me riding in these conditions pictured below, 4-6 feet of powder with rpms well above where they were supposed to be, mine were barely warm, and at night, my hands were absolutely freezing, and my gloves were like 2 blocks of ice ? That's an 8 foot high stop sign in the background too EH ! ;)!

I don't know why your grips suck....but that pic is awesome!
 
Well, I went out and checked the grip's resistance myself, and I got 7.2-7.3 ohms resistance for each grip, so I guess I can scratch that off the list of possibilities. I know I'm riding hard enough to get heat through the grips, just can't figure out why I can't feel it very well....I remember the heated grips on my 02 Viper, so hot they melted the bond between them and the bars and they rotated while riding !

Oh well, back to the drawing board... :o|
 
I was for a long ride on mine yesterday in -13 dgrees celcius and I had no problems.High is too hot and usually run them on half to three quarters,and I'm wearing thin Reima gloves.My hands get cold pretty easily normally.

Holy Crap, you need a Mtn sled !
 
I put 80 miles on two nights ago in about 25 degree temps in Northern WI and I was going between 35-65 mph. The warms do not work in my opinion. I had both the bars and thumb on as high as they would go. I took my gloves off after a high speed run and the bars are basically cold. Yes, periodically I could barely feel some heat on the bar ends. Bottom line, the bars do not heat up to an acceptable level by me to provide warmth. On the 2006 Apex Yamaha said it was the low windshields, then a replacement bar was sent out. The replacement bars barely were better than the originals.

This is totally unacceptable in my opinion. I should have to turn the bars down because they get too hot not be writing emails about how terrible they are. I have already called my dealer and I will be calling Yamaha too register the complaint. Please do the same. It is a shame that after the 2006 bar problems that this was not fixed on these sleds.

mine due not work either, on high I can barly feel any heat, I have notified my dealer as well. along with the track that is folded over all ready and the hyfax,s that are totally shot after 23 miles.
 
What is the correct resistance for the handwarmers on the FX Nytro, and how are they supposed to be tested, with the machine running or not ? I have officially logged my complaint with Yamaha Canada after noticing my neighbour's sled having scorching hot bars. His were so hot on high yesterday, the palms of his gloves were melting, no joke, while mine were freezing and my gloves were again like 2 blocks of ice ! :o|

is he riding a 08 Nytro.....?
I rode with guanlets over my handguards yesterday, still frooze.

Yes, he's riding a 2008 FX Nytro RTX Anniversary Edition. He had to turn his warmers down after noticing the palms of his gloves were melting and torn from the gloves themselves ! Extreme opposites, something's not right !!!
