Handwarmer power issue

Hi guys , my son had the nytro out and he said the handwarmer was so hot he coyld not hold on so he cut the wires. I have tested the voltage on the wires and it says there is 35v . I know these are 12v and there should not be 35v on the 2 wires. Maybe a bad regulator or my test was bad on the wires , i dont wana replace these and waste the new ones.

They are controlled by the ECU by PWM so readings using a normal digital meter would not be accurate. If the handwarmers were too hot, even on the lowest setting, maybe they were modified and connected in parallel instead of series. My son's Phazer was modified like that and they were too hot and if you put them on the highest setting, they would shut down and throw an error code. It's also possible that your grips are shorted. Grab a copy of the manual and check what their resistance is supposed to be.

is there an extra box wired into that system?

This is a bone stock sled and i have new warmers and grips to put on so i don't want to waste them if i have another issue.

So i looked further into this and found a yamaheater box wired in with rhe grips. I hooked grios back to oem plugs and new warmers are working.
