My handwarmers are not working..but my thumb warmer is. I looked at all the wiring and fuses and all seem good. I put a test light on the connectors of the grips down were all the wires connect and my test light lit up!!! it is putting the error code 81 for the warmers.. what could be going on...

iirc code 81 is what you will get if the controller sees the circuit open. you need to check for continuity in the circuit. could be a bad or disconnected connector, fractured wire, could be a bad grip heating element. you need a voltmeter to check these circuits.

you don't want to check for voltage, first you want to check for continuity in the heating elements. if they are wired in series (i believe they are) you can check them both at the same time. if the circuit shows open (no continuity) then you'll have to check them individually which is no big deal just have to pull the connectors apart. don't remember the specified resistance offhand but you mainly want to see if one has failed. just look for the wiring and connectors that go to the grip elements in between the handlebars, this is where i would start the troubleshooting.

The guys are correct.

If you want some help, can walk you through testing & troubleshooting them over the phone, no problem.

Send me a PM with your number, will get you taken care of!

Rock :-o
