sr viper mtx 153 2015
Hi, my 2015 viper mtx mpi trail turbo was really hard to start ramdomly no matter cold, hot, cycling fuel pump, quick start method and the famous kick back ....
The starter blew at 404 km, 750$ warrantie job, after that my viper was even worse to start, about 50 % of the time it was taking me LONG time to get her running (key on key off cranking no start ....) when i was cranking and no start i noticed my cluster showing p0563/p0562 (high voltage/low voltage) i tightened my batterie cable but was already fairly tight BUT my solenoid wire (on top of batterie) was fairly loose almost tighten a full turn of nut without over torquing it (both side).
I have put almost 100 km now with it and NO MORE HARD START !!!! Fire right up like a yamaha should.
This may not be the answer to all hard starting viper, but worked on mine and it take only 5 min to chek so worth a look
I am now really happy with my viper this thing pull like crazy when boosted :)

Mine were loose from the day I got it home. Didn't think much of it but I tightened them even before I ever rode it, never had a issue starting yet, fires up with a touch of the key. Something to look into!
Sometimes the simplest things can cause huge problems, maybe this contributes to some of the failures if the starter is intermittently getting power during the crank cycle?

Good Job

a guy we were riding with the other day mentioned that he had the same issue, loose wiring like that will cause an extreme voltage drop and will easily fry a starter, id definitely tell anyone who has one to look at it asap and tighten it down even if it is already. maybe even with a backup nut on it
