Help, very hard to start

Is the TORS light coming on?

Have you checked what the intake air temperature is reading and also the coolant temp sensor? This can be done through the dash. I had an 06 apex last year that didn't want to start, and the coolant sensor was sending a higher reading than it should have been. However, no error code was showing.

how to I do that?

I have to go out the door right now but what 74Nitro is referring to is putting the ECU into diagnosis mode. By some combination of otherwise unlikely button pushes/holds the ECU display a number of attributes, one at a time. Do a search and see what you can find.

Regards TORS, my guess is that your model has no light but throws a code. Good luck.

I thought there was a light or indication on the gauge pod? I'd have to check my manual which I don't have with me at work

Nice DGZRT. I have the 2014 MP/Phazer manual and there are no significant differences. Don't forgot the NOTE on the end of the first page, that you have to restart the process right from the beginning each time.

You are right Surestick ... code 84 on the guage pod.

Let us know if you can't figure out how to bring this up.
I just love how all the components can be checked through the machine without any external hook ups unlike some brands.
To my knowledge, these codes apply across all Yamaha product lines.

The next time I have some spare time I want to mess with this. Previously I have been reluctant to try lest I turn on the computor and can't get my sled back to normal but as I read it that is not really likely. I'm not nearly as intimidated by this machine as I once was .... thanks to TYers.

Yukon, I have the 2006 technical update book, so I have info on many codes etc. Don't hesitate to ask.

Thanks 74Nitro. Lets hope John in Finland finds some joy in this too.

Following. I have an 07 Phazer and having sorta same issue. Although mine will fire up perfect for about 10 seconds and then shut off. Fire up again and then you can crank it over endlessly and wont fire up again.

Sit tight until a few guys chime in, repeated 10sec runs are just going to end up fouling the plugs. You might even start another thread with all of your details, it makes it easier for guys to keep straight as your issue might be something else.
