Back to the topic at hand...I have read on this site that the carb heater shuts off at 86 degrees. However I searched through the owners manual and the service manual and can't find anything. Can anyone verify that it does shut off? Thanks.

thats when the electric heat shuts off, the water never stops heating the carbs till a shutoff is installed.
Also I did not notice any difference in the hot start after installing the coolant shutoff.

Honk do you have a shortie? I didn't have much of a problem with it starting till I got the new deeper float bowls on my mountain. Not sure why, but it was a bearcat after that.
Yes I do have a shorty! I really haven't had much problem, except when I tipped it over on it's side last year. Then it ground and ground, but finally started up. I was along way from home to, started to get nervous. Honk

Valve
I have the same problem when I turn the sled off when it's hot. When I turn the key to start it I have to give it gas to start. I was told that the carbs already have an auto-matic valve that turns off the hot liquid when it get up to temp.
My DOO has a valve in-line. The manual says to turn it off if outside temp. is over 40 degrees.

Re: Valve
MXZ900--So if I understand you right, the quote above is incorrect? There is NO valve just a heater that maintains the heat at a temperature of at least 86 degrees. Is your coolant always flowing even when your sled is hot as heck? Therefore heating the carbs with hot coolant? At what temp does your coolant have to get to before the coolant light comes on? Thanks for the info.

I had the same problem last year. Had to crack the throttle to start when the engine was hot. Checked all the usual stuff-carb sync, cable sync, airbox boots, etc. Got my new Warrior, and, the idle is set to 1600 rpm, and, no problem starting after it's hot. Set the idle on the RX1 to 1600 rpm, and, the problem is GONE

I have a 2002 700MM that has a shut off valve. I have to close the valve when outside temperature goes above 32 f. Is this the same principle?
