Once again my exhaust donuts disappeared. These things disappear faster than a tsunami can hit Japan. Will someone tell Yamaha "It's time to make the donuts again"? :o| :o| :o|

This time I'm going copper!

Mine wern't smoked that bad, but two out of three leaked. New copper rings should do the trick.

With a Trail Tank installed this is a real safety concern.

im just suprised that you dont have the copper donuts already grizz!

just inspected mine after my first season on them, with 2500 miles logged on them, they look a little used but heck with how many miles I put on a year I should get 7500+miles on this set, way longer than I will have use for the nytro as my primary sled!

I know. What's up with that?

Arent there some kind of clamps at the donut?im asuming mine are bad because I can hear what sounds like to be a clamp vibrating down around that area.i havent tore into it yet with 3,200 miles

How many km since you last replaced them? Maybe the exhaust system is moving around too much...is it secure? Ever thought of switching to a donut free set up...like Hindle's.

Hopefully Grizz will photo bucket us pictures of how he does it. I am sure he will have a few tricks up his sleeve to help us all out!!

The clamps are removed in my picture and yes you can hear the clamps rattle if you listen under the tunnel. I just installed a 128" track and was adjusting it when I heard the rattle. With the engine running you can look above the track at the front bulkhead and usually see the clamps spinning on the pipes. I had to pull my Trail Tank to install new spark plugs so other than having to buy new donuts again its not going to be a big deal replacing them. I ordered a set of copper donuts from Sled Toyz. Hopefully they'll take care of the problem but if not I'll be looking at other options. I've been getting around 2,500 miles out of the OEM donuts.

I just ordered 3 copper donuts from Sled Toyz for $17 each. They look top quality. After shipping it came out to $64, but I think Yamaha wants $25 each or something for them...

I may be just lucky but my MTX has 3600 miles and they seem to be good. I held a rag over the tail pipe and snuffed out the motor. The only rattle I hear is the clutch. :o|
