Well there's a lot of talk about what a nytro can and can't handle and after yesterday I have some solid evidence on what it can't handle, what breaks and how to fix some of the problems before they happen.

THIS IS NOT A BASH JUST A HEADS UP IF U WANNA SERIOUSLY JUMP YOURS

setup: 55 ft jump, nytro with revalved rear and float evo front. Otherwise stock nytro chassis.

First jump hard impact took out the whole front end

next few jumps rear axle tensioners broke and the twisting force bent both rails a bit(just behind rear arm mount). Pulled the skid and found that the rear arm mounts also were bent backwards towards rear idlers. Looks like the rear of the tunnel bottomed and hit the ground in the process bending a little. Heavy duty Steel rear axle was allready on to raplace aluminum ones that will bend from jumping.

FIX: fab up a solid piece that makes sure the axle can't push back on the tensioners. Fab up an extra brace for the rear arm also. Replace rear axle with stronger steel version.

Running boards also took a serious beating

Few hours of work and the sled was back in action, pulled parts from his other nytros. It was pretty cool to see how much work behind the scenes goes into jumpin big stuff. I was considering beefing up my rtx and hitting ramps more on it but after seeing this and since i don't have 4 spare nytros and boxes of spare parts it will stay on the trails and little bumps where it belongs.

Again just take this all as a heads up, sure 99.9% of people wont be hitting 55ft gaps on our nytros but its still interesting to see how it handles it.

edit less misleading

Thanks, but I won't be hitting any 55 footers on my Nytro, I should be OK. ;)!

Not to sound like a prick, but I don't see a Nytro or any sled not hold up to this type of jump. If this was a ramp to ramp, we have a buddy that does 75 ft'ers on a 1992 XC 440. Most ramps to ramps you use about 3 inches of suspension travel unless you come up shot, or flat land long. I'm not looking for an argument, but I have spent my fair share of time jumping ramps and sideroads.

i was there and i have to admit if you over shoot your landing and crash like that guy did no matter if its a polaris, doo, artic cat or yamaha the same thing will happen to any sled!!! i have some pics and hadddddd a video of the sled crash but i must have deleted it

Yep thats true. Although I do think several components on this sled are prone to failure even when he dials landings.

From what i've seen and experienced revs are built stronger, xp's are about the same even worse in some cases, iqr is the strongest chassis on snow.

And yeah normally if you were going to do this sorta thing a race chassis is a must. Just pointing out how a stock sled holds up cause I don't think the majority of sledders realize the difference.

but than again most sledders wont be doing 50 ft junps lol.. what was that guys name anyways? did you see the nytro that wrecked in the pickup box?

I'm just curious how old are you?

I realize that, pointed it out earlier in this thread. The rider was Jeff Mullin, Yamaha factory rider. He can definatly throw down, my buddy rode at his place and was scared as hell. That nytro was also his, as you can see thats where the front end came from.
I thought some people may be interested in the behind the scenes work that goes on to make these shows happen.

I will also add that the landing they built for that show was extremely steep and had very little room for error. Chris Burandt also overshot and hurt himself earlier in the week.

radianguy-I'm 22, i'm sure you may have assumed I was about 11 or mildly retarded after reading my last post. Sorry but I'm feeling far too lazy to use proper grammar or sentence structure haha.

Crashing or hard landings will wreck any sled. My MTX far surpassed 55 ft. last year (about double that) and I didn't break anything. I didn't hit any ramps with it though and had a different rear skid.

I've done some cleanup here, and edited the post title. Lets keep it civil.

I will add that no freestyler no matter how good you are hits the landing perfectly everytime, overshooting and casing jumps is part of the game. Thats where the sled is key (especially to normal people who aren't sponsored), how much abuse can it stand up to. I'm just saying that I have seen lots of people on here and other sites claim production nytros are just like whats on the track.
