I'm going to call you on this one. If you can find one example of this statement on TY, I'll make sure to clean it up.

Great info!!
Also there are some other things to watch out for with these Nytro's. Don't hit big trees at high speeds, there is a good chance that you will be doing some big damage. Also make sure to look both ways when crossing highways because if a semi hits your Nytro on the right side your chaincase isn't bulit strong enough to take that kind of hit and I'm thinking a new cover, chain and maybe a couple sprockets will need replacing. Another thing to watch is the front A arms. If you plan on hitting any logs or farm impliments buried under the snow, I would be carefull to hit them at very low speeds because if your going fast these arms will bend for sure!! All in all I would say that you should ride the Nytro like it was a snowmobile because its way to fragile to be used like a bulldozer.
sedz said:Well there's a lot of talk about what a nytro can and can't handle and after yesterday I have some solid evidence on what it can't handle, what breaks and how to fix some of the problems before they happen.
THIS IS NOT A BASH JUST A HEADS UP IF U WANNA SERIOUSLY JUMP YOURS
setup: 55 ft jump, nytro with revalved rtx se rear and float evo front. Otherwise stock nytro chassis. Reverse, headlight removed.
First jump took out the whole front end...new everything from motor foreward.
next few jumps rear axle tensioners broke and the twisting force bent both rails(just behind rear arm mount). Pulled the skid and found that the rear arm mounts also were bent backwards towards rear idlers. Looks like the rear of the tunnel bottomed and hit the ground in the process bending a little. Heavy duty Steel rear axle was allready on to raplace aluminum ones that will bend.
FIX: fab up a solid piece that makes sure the axle can't push back on the tensioners. Fab up an extra brace for the rear arm also. Replace rear axle with stronger steel version.
Running boards also took a serious beating, didn't bother fixing them tho.
Few hours of work and the sled was back in action, pulled parts from 2 of his other nytros. It was pretty cool to see how much work behind the scenes goes into jumpin big stuff. I was considering beefing up my rtx and hitting ramps more on it but after seeing this and since i don't have 4 spare nytros and boxes of spare parts it will stay on the trails and little bumps where it belongs.
Again just take this all as a heads up, sure 99.9% of people wont be hitting 55ft gaps on our nytros but its still interesting to see how it handles it.
I wish i took more pics while we were helpin fix this sled. I'll try and find some pics of the jumps and im sure some video will turn up.

So where was the jump/wreck that caused the damage? I watched the You Tube video and didn't see it.

Ramp to ramp freestyle is definitely hard on sleds. The landings are abrupt and often times the rider and sled are hitting the ground at the same time fully compressing the suspension.
I believe Nikolai can surpass 55ft (and we've seen the photos) because he knows how to land his sled (in powder or looser snow and) on a downhill landing (also key to shave impact). Backcountry is must different that ramps, less impact generally.
I'm sure you know all of this Sedz being a freestyler. I will say that the sled is heavy and as a stocker is not really a jump sled. I can't speak for the RTX, but I bottomed a standard Nytro almost everytime I went past 10-15 feet.
I had my shocks revalved for this season. I still won't be going near 50, I'll leave that to my Lewishillbilly riding buddies, and to SEDZ and Nikolai.
PS. Nikolai, keep the photos coming this season. Especially with those new mods.

I saw Blaze at SwedenX this spring. He did some really impressive things with his stock nytro. Ending up in 3rd place in the contest. Talked to him during one of the breaks an he showed me the sled. Only mods were the 4 shocks that he had with him from the states.

This thread is completly F'ING STUPID!!! It's just another way of saying the subframe is bad. Shut up already!!! We all know they bend from "normal" trail riding. Enough already.
Like jds1000 stated, it couldn't be the large frozen rocks bending parts.....nahhhhh!! Sudden stops from trees......nahhhhh!!! Just normal trail riding.

I disagree...He's not claiming to have bent something from normal trail riding, he's basically telling you that if you plan to use the sled for freestlying or ramp to ramp, then it may need to be strengthened. I don't think he was bashing the Nytro in any way, just letting us know his experience. Nothing to hide, and as others have stated, not many stock sleds hold up well to ramp to ramp jumping.
No need to get upset...We're all brothers here

Here are the facts:
This sled was a 2 year old pre-production sled that will be weaker then full production model, was a stock skid with Fox Evolvs that had done over 100 jumps prior and he over shot the ramp by 20 feet onto flat ground landing hard on the front.... what do you think will happen ...... BROKEN Parts...Yes

yeah i conviniently left out that they were hard landings. The point of this was to explain waht parts are under the most stress under this kinda riding.
I jumped a ramp on my nytro a few times and its fine, over the course of a season stuff will break just like it did on my rev i had. I regret posting this topic at all since so many people on here got all mad about it. Not sayin it can't be done but it would be smart to reenforce those areas ahead of time. Sorry to anyone who took this as a bash, its not a race sled ...I know that, I have had arguements with people on here before who thought otherwise.
I was one of the first to break a spindle and bend a subframe on my nytro and everyone got on my case about it. I'm done commenting on those things.

Having all of the weight in the front, being a 4 stroke, and a tubular steel frame is ok for the trails, and fast studder bumps. There is a reason some other sleds have aluminum fronts, and are more balanced. Does that make them good on a rough trail not really. I think we are all going to run in to more rough trails then ramps, and large scale jumps. WHen you have a stiff item like a steel tube push into a formed item, depending on the location of the bends it will cause damage/bending. With aluminum and other forgiving metals you will get fatigue or breaking instead. Trust me I work with this sh$t all day long. That's why some companies make a sled type for each type of riding. That is also why almost all of the guys you see in those videos don't have stock sleds either. Would you with promoters and vendors. I wouldn't! I would make a sled that rides and looks bad #*$&@. WHich they do. Nytro's RTX claim is to take on the larger bumps on the trail for, ROUGH trail riding. Not cliff diving! Even in the most recent videos a lot of guys are using the NYtro for the torque, and engine dependability (combined with a Turbo) to mountain climb. I saw one site that said the sled had a tendancy to go into the bumps instead of on top of them (more or less). This is when the rider didn't set the sled up correctly, or balance their body correctly during the air. trying to make up for the different ergo's from your standard sled
. This could possibly cause some damage also. Well good luck flying to the

Well I for one thank you. I'm currently on an 07 X-RS that has all the 440 bracing that ski-doo left off, and I've been watching the Nytros because I would love to have a sled I can pound with a 4-stroke. If someone can point out to me where to add bracing and which parts to add to make it more durable than I think that's great. So again thanks for posting.
I do have one question and maybe I missed this somewhere in the thread, was this Nytro a regular RTX or was it an SE??
THanks

Mr sled pointed out it was a 2 year old pre production nytro comparable suspension wise to a rtx but with evols on the front.revster said:sedz said:The point of this was to explain waht parts are under the most stress under this kinda riding.

I never bought my nytro with the intentions of jumping it, it was strictly to trail ride. After riding mine and realizing how smooth the motor is and how it ran flawlessly all season i started thinking it may work good for hittin small ramps because I had confidence in the fact it was gonna run smooth and predictable comming in and run properly in the air(the cat 440 was hit or miss in this department).
I learned alot watching Mullin goin big on his, and came up with my own ideas and opinion of what would help an average person's nytro hold up better under similar conditions. I'm no pro freestyle rider by any strech of the imagination just an average rider that happens to jump here n there. I should point out also that the xp rs that was also there was about as beat up as the yamaha from what I could see...and it was a race chassis.
Mullin has nothin but good things to say about his yamaha setup and had some helpful advice for setting my own up better. Yamaha signing him was a good move he has a much better attitude then Jimmy Blaze in my opinion. I would say Jimmy Blazes cocky attitude did more to hurt yamahas image then his riding did to help it...and hes a hell of a rider.
So take it as what this is, my opinions...maybe i'm wrong but thats how i see things.
