So how many PSI is the stock head gasket designed to hold. If you up your boost from stock PSI you shouldn't really be saying there is a problem with stock components. On the other hand if the head gasket is leaking with stock boost there may be a problem.
That is mostly dependent upon the tune and quality of fuel. Guys are getting well into the 400hp range using the stock gasket and studs.
For instance a 4g63 stock head gasket is good to over 800hp With studs on a 2.0l with a safe ZERO knock tune. That same setup getting A few knock counts here and there will eventually give up a gasket at 600hp. Not enough to cause piston or rod bearing damage but intermittent enough that the head lifts after a few years.

PS. It’s usually guys pushing the limits of a smaller turbo........

Clutchmaster is correct. Guys pushing past 350-400 hp are getting some head lift. Case will flex and distort the head even with head studs. Engine is nowhere near as stout as the Zuk was.... especially it being a 3 cylinder.

I wouldn’t be so sure of that......Packard is getting 700hp (more like 550hp, but they ALL LIE!) from the 998 Motor. I believe if the Winder would have come out the same time as the Zuk’s they would be a lot closer in development and about the same horsepower rating. Spin a Zuk up at 10,500 rpm and it will be scrap metal pretty quickly.

The Cat guys also have always done more R&D in the drag race arena so that helps out huge in development.
What kinda power are they getting out of those 1100’s on gasoline nowadays?

Ehh.. Snow outlaw guys were lifting heads at 400 hp... What one guy "says" he's getting is irrelevant. On race fuel the Zuk is flat out more powerful and has a bottom end out of a C15 cat.

Well they must be doing something differently than the UTV guys running 998’s because this is a video of a legitimate +500hp YXZ doing long sustained runs at peak horsepower without issues. This was 2 years ago they have since got’em up to 650hp.

Wish I had my 12 turbo motor in my 2017, I would be great. The body panels suck on the earlier procross sled.

We are getting off track here I don't know what the Suzuki 2 cyl has anything to do with SideHogger buddy pulling off his head to find a leaking head gasket. I guess what I want to know is, was it stock or tuned.

Ya what ClutchMaster said, the Suzuki sounded like a tractor and had zero fun factor.

All things are possible. For us at Hurricane performance, hp is an ever expanding evolution. When we learn to make say 400hp, we then have learned the stepping stone to make more hp. That was the process that has led us to make over 900hp on the 4cyl Yamaha engine. Not we’ve learned to make over 700hp on the Yamaha 3cyl engine . We have now used what we learned from how the engine reacts to 700hp to target the next level of potentially 800hp. It’s this hp that produces the high mph speeds achieved on radar

My brothers sled made 419hp on Hurricanes dyno with the stock head gasket, and ran for a whole season like that. Now the head is O-ringed and has upgraded valve springs, and has been running even more boost for the last 2 seasons. Still has the stock piston in it too.
