Does anyone have an idea about the cost of a head rebuild on an 06 Grizzly? This thing has used oil since it was new. It uses about a cup of oil every ride (around 50 mi). It doesn't leak and it dosen't blow any smoke or foul the plug the oil just seems to go away. It now has around 3800mi.

Mine loses a little too mike.
plug is fine, no residue in exhaust, no leaks.
It has to be going in the combustion process. Every 2 tanks I have to add 1/4 of a quart to top it up!

My 660 would use about a cup of oil every tank. It would use less on some rides and more on really fast rides. I did find the cure for the oil consumption today. I bought a new 700.

i just had the head redone all new valves and the jug bored out and new piston and rings. I had the machining done for me but i did the taking apart and putting back together.
Cost of the parts and machine work was 480 with the master gasket kit.
Just an FYI

Chief, no oil usage now? With the changes?

I only have a couple miles on it since the rebuild.
Everything sounds good, the valves are adjusted to spec. That made all the difference.
Bottom end still has 5700 miles almost 900 hrs on it.
I just changed filter and filled it with yamalube 10W-30.
I'll let you know how it goes, i should be hitting the trails in the next week.

My 660 had 6000 miles and 480 hours. I cured the oil consumption with a 700. The oil usage didn't bother me as much as the 6000 miles. I didn't want any mechanical problems in the desert 20 miles from my truck.

Right behind ya buddy.
I fixed my 660 oil issue with a 700FI upgrade. I miss the 'hit' of power the 660 had. Although the 700 is faster, the 660 had a real nice bump in the powerband that the 700 doesn't.
We can't have everything though.

I agree about the missing 'hit' when you get on the power. The 700's are a little smoother on the power. A pipe and a programmer would give it a lot more zip but where I ride having smooth power is the best way to go.
I went to the dealer to pick up my alloy front bash plate and they ordered the one for the middle so I had to take it back. It will probably be another two week wait to get the right one. When I go in to pick it up I am going to make them an offer on the plate they got by mistake.
Congratulations on your new purchase.![Div20 ;)! ;)!](/styles/default/xenforo/smilies/div20.gif)
