Hey guys, just wondering if anyone here is running a heel clicker primary kit on their apex or attak? The guy I bought this sled from before weighed about 250lbs and I weight approx 160 so you can imagine why my sled was hitting the rev limiter every now and then. I bought a small scale and weighed my clutch bolts and set it back to the spec according to the heel clicker installation kit so that should help with the rpm a bit. (It didn't have quite enough weight on it) my question is, is there a way I can get my engagement rpm down a bit? It has an all white spring in it right now(170-340 according to the heel clicker instructions) and my engagement is at like 4900rpm which is a bit high for my liking. Should I look at getting another primary spring to fix this issue? Thanks in advance for the help guys!

Which Heel Clickers do you have? Are they Drag & Fly's, 2-Speeds, or the original? Knowing this would help us to steer you in the right direction to get you dialed in.

They are the originals I believe. I went on their site an the ones that look like mine they call "heel clicker primary kit" and some other info that might help is I have 4.8 grams on the heel (or shoulder) and 6.0 grams in the middle hole which is spec for an apex according to heel clicker.

I run the Yamaha springs much easier to tune, you don't need a press or a gorrilla to change springs. I run the pink pink pink primary, this will put you in the mid 3000 range for engagement with the 14.5 rollers which should be stock unless the attack uses larger rollers . They say the black heel clicker spring works well too, its shorter than their other springs and is 140-400 rate.

Aha! That's probably why I was just about blowing blood vessels in my eye trying to put the primary cover back on! So I guess my biggest question is does the second number on the spring matter that much? (Ex 320 on a 170-320 spring) and am I going to lose anything performance wise by going to the pink pink pink spring? Also I don't know if I mentioned this yet but I am running the yellow secondary spring that came with the heel clicker kit and It is in the 6 and 2 position. So do you think I would need to change anything in my secondary with the new primary spring? Sorry for all the questions I'm just kinda new to this clutching game.
The second number is equally as important as the first number! The first number represents spring pressure with the clutch in neutral and the second number represents spring pressure at full shift out! The difference is determined by the spring rate.

Well I can tell you the clutch press is cheap and running the heel clicker primary and secondary springs made a huge diff for me. If you run one without the other its impossible to tune. The secondary spring rate has to increase or the shift out on the 2 goes out of sink.

First number will control engagement higher number the higher your engagement the second number effects your peak rpmin the same way, this is very basic but easy way to look at learning to tune. Tune rpm with primary, l run the drag&fly wieghts with 5.2 in shoulder 7 in center, was close to rev limiter so added .8 to tip this year so ur weight should be close mine is short track so the attack will be a little different. Not sure about yellow spring in secondary or what helix you have but higher number will back shift faster and up shift slower better for corner to corner pull or deeper snow , I like to run as loose as you can without slipping belt faster and better mileage. I run 46/36 helix with silver spring set to 70. Getting long here so I'll stop. Just remember clutching is everything

Okay, well I'm thinking my best option is to use the black heel
Clicker primary spring (140-400) and tune from there. I'm likely gonna call heel clicker and talk to someone about my specific setup as they know more about what works with their springs than I do.
Does anyone know a good place to order heel clicker springs from? Somewhere in Canada would be preferable.
Thanks everyone for helping point me in the right direction with this. It's greatly appreciated!
