Anybody using the Helo by Ez-ryde on their Apex XTX? What improvements did you gain?
I'm thinking of having the Helo installed on a 2012 Apex XTX to reduce CK rebound kick. While I would like to reduce rebound kick on my 2012 XTX I don't want to lose transfer adjustments for the installation of aggressive Snow Trackers on my front skis.
Anybody used both the Helo & Snowtrackers on their Apex XTX? What were results?

I have a 2011 Yamaha XTX all stock with the exception of clutching with the HELO installed and my overall all impressions are great.
About me, I’m 6’1” and weigh 300 lbs and I am an aggressive rider. I typically ride about 100 miles each time I am out in all conditions. (this year I only did 500 miles)
The HELO weight transfer is awesome! To sum it is up is TTC (total traction control) coming out of the hole or corner to corner the sled really pulls hard and accelerates and still feels like the same handling characteristics that I can tell. You still can blow the track loose on hard leaving due to the motor torque and power.
There is some additional damping however I still bottom out. (hard not too at 300lbs). The sled really works well in the wash-outs now I need to work on the front shocks damping. Overall I like it.

I think we are are working on different handling problems of our rear skids. I don't bottom out on compression at 220 but rebound kick is unreal & needs to be slowed down. I never had a problem with transfer either so easily adjusted on XTX skid. If all the Helo will do is shift transfer front & back or side to side not sure it will help a trail rider like me very much unless I'm missing something?I have a 2011 Yamaha XTX all stock with the exception of clutching with the HELO installed and my overall all impressions are great.

I am quite sure if anyone is missing something it is me. I am a person that rides, I am not good at setting a sled at all. I just talked about the bottoming out because I have stock springs on the hard settings. A lot of “bigger” riders have asked me before if this will replace the need for bigger springs.
One thing you can do is call Ezryde and talk with Christian, he would have some better answers.

Christian didn't have much to offer said he was not familar with Apex XTX Helo installation so seems like I'm on my own to find out how Helo worked on Apex XTX. I have major concerns on how Helo would afffect my Snow Trackers as tranfer is very important to safe operation of STs. Christian told me to come here & JD for information but not much incoming so far. Is Helo & Snow Trackers that rare to Yamaha sleds???

I have been looking at the helo for both my viper and apex and was hoping to see some posts on this.
Honestly, If the best information the manufacturer of the part can offer is to send you here or johndee forum.
i would avoid this part like the plague.
Obviously they have not given this part any significant testing in the type of sled you ride.
For $500 bucks i would not be willing to be the test guini pig.
Dont mean to sound too negative, its just that i hate seeing the consumer doing the testing for these companys

Yes I feel like a test mule for Helo on 2012 Apex Xtx. Sounds like some riders are using Helo but have no idea how Helo works or affects other skid adjustments. I can't just install a Helo and hope STs still work or draw down my limiter as only transfer adjustment. Seems like little if any tech support from mfg of Helo.I have been looking at the helo for both my viper and apex and was hoping to see some posts on this.

This is what the Helo looks like and how it functions.

Yamaha wants to tune out as much twist as possible in CK chassis & uses dampers & Helo intends to introduce flex & twist. Go figure which is best for trail riding? lol..To me the Helo may have value simular to T motion by doo for powder riding but doo didn't take T motion to trail sleds. IDK just doesn't seem benefical for trail sleds at $500 + just my opinion based on Vids & rider info so far.

Until more people try this on different Suspensions I think it's way to pricey to buy it on hopes of a better ride! I can see this for deep snow with better transfer! If a person is looking to improve there ride, Shock revalve and dual rate springs work excellent !

Sorry I wasn’t much help. At 48 years old I just want to ride and enjoy my sled. As stated I am not much for setting up of the sled. With that being said I think EzRyde have a good name and reputation with snowmobile suspensions. This year was a bad year for riding. I normally do 1000 miles more than I did this year. (less then 500)
If you can come up to the UP (Houghton/Hancock) your more than welcome to ride mine and play with it My sled worked great for me, I installed it to help with transfer. That was it.
By listing to your sled knowledge Whitedust1 not sure if you would like this. Again I just don’t know. Maybe you call and talk to Christian again and tell him you have great understanding of the APEX and see if he would let you use one in exchange for your feedback. If it’s good tell him why and if not tell him why. I know they had demo rids at Eagle river this past year.
Again sorry I wasn’t much help for you.

Your info was good....You wanted to affect transfer for bottoming rear shock and seems to help you & I can see where Helo could somewhat help with that condition. For $500 rear springs & revalve might have had a better result for less money.....prolly what I would have done for a big guy. For me I'm chasing rebound not compression so not feeling it for Helo to help me.... unless I'm missing something?Sorry I wasn’t much help. At 48 years old I just want to ride and enjoy my sled.
