help - Hindle exhaust

Im installing a new hindle exhaust and I cannot, for the life of me, remove the stock exhaust box. I have the heat shield and everything off but I cannot remove the stock muffler!!!
I watched videos of people taking them off and they simply slid off... mine will not move!!
Are there any tricks?

I'm sure you may have seen this but it is a pretty great walkthrough. As for it pulling off, i could be wrong but you may need to just nudge it some. You should be able to see it under the tunnel and see what is keeping if from sliding free for you. Assuming its not brand new like the video i'm sure it has just wore in and just needs a bit of careful persuasion as do most used parts. Hope this helps some, sorry i don't have more hands on exp as i still have my stocker on but i'm sure someone else will post as well. Good luck

I got the muffler off... boy was that frustrating lol
nowwwww my next problem is installing the new hindle exhaust. I bought it used so i dont know if its missing any parts.
I can't see where the springs would go. Also, my stock header has like a gold mess type right around the end which the old exhaust fit over. This exhaust doenst fit over that ring and it can only slide on about 1/4 inch.
The installation instructions say "insert hindle muffler into hindle slip on adapter/mid pipe". Am I missing this piece??

Did you buy just the muffler or did it come with the header?

When installing the header be patient it's a tight fit. What parts were not shipped?

I'll give some advice on installing the header...put the right primary on the hole first...then put the left and centre on the header and wiggle it into place..then join the right primary to the collector and join it to the header flanges...it is a tight fight.

say you have a slight air leak where the header attaches to the muffler, are there any negatives to this?
I have the hindle exhaust and there are no clamps or anything, it was a little bit loose but once everything is tightened down I think it sealed up. I was just wondering the worst case scenario if there was an air leak, what could happen?

You shouldn't have any air leaks...the slip fit tolerences are supposed to be tight...first time I've ever heard of someone mentioning that...on a side note, once you run the system it gets so tight that you need to spray WD40 into the joints to get it apart. Are you sure you have the muffler onto the mid pipe all the way?

just say i did have an air leak tho, what could go wrong or could it be bad. im pretty sure its fine now but just to make sure I may put some type of sealer over it. i have some hi temp Silicone Gasket Maker

I suppose an air leak before the muffler could cause some blow by....worst case scenerio if it were a substantial leak it would run lean....but like I said, when the pipe gets hot it will expand and there will be no leaks...if you are concerned, contact Hindle so they can rectify the issue....just make sure that you have the muffler all they way on the mid pipe.
