I was driving yesterday...and about a kilometer down the river, my machine died. It sounds like it wants to turn over, and the fuses look fine. What could be the problem? I can smell the gas so it's getting fuel. Is it possible for plugs (4) to go in the beginning of a ride? I did let it idle for about 25 minutes, but it was -25 C outside! What are my odds of it being something inexpensive?

I had a problem with my ignition switch connection. It was loose....and the same thing happened to me.

Put a plug into a coil and crank the engine over. If there is no spark generated than it is something electrical, perhaps the ignition switch connection as suggested or another electrical connection. Make sure all the electrical connectors are plugged in. There was also a problem with the wiring under the tool box in the front having the insulation worn off due to rubbing on the frame. It is probably something very simple.

Have you checked all your fuses?

Change the plugs, make sure your choke is working properly.

Is this motor an interferance motor or not? Do the valves hit the piston if the belt beaks?

he broke a timing chain is what you meant? Pretty sure it is an interferance motor unfortunately

If the timing CHAIN broke (very uncommon???) he's in trouble. No way have the valves got enough clearance. Must have atleast eaten the head and a couple pistons, hopefully not the block too. Man, that sucks!!!

Glad to hear it is a chain, otherwise I think some of us would want to be changing them. Didn't think a chain would break.......
There are alot of top ends out there. Typically its the crank bearing or rod bearing that goes.
Get a set of used pistons from a R1..they are cheaper and the same. Valve job and back in business.
Otherwise Im looking for a motor just like yours. If you part it out.
