are you sure that this is the problem because mine was perfect again lastnight but went back to the way she was acting just now.so you thinks the pilot jet is clogged up?

In your case, no.

Clogged pilot was the idea I threw out for beaker when he asked, could be his problem. I have seen strange things happen with clogged pilots, it's no fun at all removing them carbs 5 times in a row.

Well let me ask you this question, did either one of you have the air box off, if you are using the stock air box. I had encountered a problem when I thought I had properly installed the air box on the carbs. Went for a ride and could only get about 7 grand on the tach and backfired like hell. So I changed the plugs reran it and same problem. As i removed the air box to check the carbs for dirt. Seen they were clean, reinstalled the air even more careful making sure they were completely sealing the carbs. Found i had one clamp not seating causing a air leak. Once installed runs awesome now. if you do not believe the sled runs terrible with an air leak run with the air box off. You get no R's or power... ;)!

With the intermittency you are experiencing, I would not think it is the carbs, unless the fuel quality is questionable.

I suspect that LB is right. It sounds like an electrical problem. Did you inspect the wiring in the nose of the sled yet?

nope i didnt inspect the wires yet. i tried the sled this morning and she was bogging at 6000 - 7000 rpm and then cleaned the carbs and she was perfect! so in this case the carbs was the problem. i had a cloged jet!

If the problem was intermittent, do you think there could be more fuel contamination in your fuel system? You may want to consider cleaning out the fuel system, especially, if the problem comes back again. What actually was clogging the jet?

Then again, ... if it comes back again, you may want to considering checking that wiring just to rule it out.

Anyway, glad you have it running now. I have fuel handling rules I follow religiously. Also, I have never had a carb problem in 4 years. I never use a metal can to transport gas and I never borrow a can. I swear by them.

Great info, that would definitively make it run like crap. Carbs would get completely out of sync.

Lenn Todd - good info on the gas transportation, condensation may form in the gas cans.

I always use a Mr.Funnel fuel filter when filling from a can. It removes both water and particles from the fuel.
