Help with drive shaft/track

Guys my track is to far to the right, I have done every thing I can think of. Is it me or dose the drive shaft breaing look like it move letting the shaft move to the right.

I replaced the track on my 06 a couple weeks ago...This is my first apex and first track install...However...I tightened eveything up on the chaincase side first then tightened the set screws on the drive axel. I also measured inside the tunnel to the outside of the drive sporcket to makesure they were the same.... I figured this would make the drive axel go where it belongs..
 
Something does not look right in that top picture? Is that a stock drive shaft? Kind looks like you have extros on there. I know whenever I put mine back together there is NEVER that much space between the speedo bearing inner collar (with the two T-20 torx screws) and the retaining collar on the left on the drive shaft next to the outer cog.

Any possibility your drive shaft was put back in backwards? just a shot in the dark but I might be way off.

Either that or maybe you had Extros pressed onto your stock shaft and whoever put them on did not space them properly?
 
Upon closer inspection is appears the shaft is coming loose and moving to the right, away from the speedo bearing and collar there. Is there side to side play in it at all? Or is it set there, but maybe not set in there far enough into the speedo bearing and locking collar? I hate to say it, but I'm thinking it's going to have to come apart and be reset in there as it seems to not be locked into place. Just my $.02 upon closer inspection.

Just checked my service manual and kinda confirms what i was saying. Shaft is much shorter on speedo bearing side than on chaincase side, meaning the part of the drive shaft that extends past the outer drive cog on the right and left.

Also the drive cog spacing measurements are also in the pic. So might want to make sure they are all lined up and spaced properly

I disagree (could be wrong though) Doesn't look like the drive shaft can slide any further to the left into the speedo bearing. That is where the shaft gets larger and it pretty much appears to be butted up as far as it will go into the speedo bearing. And I would say with amount of speedo bearing collar showing, that the bearing is seated where it should be.
 
Did u just noticed that or was the shaft removed and when you reinstalled it ended up like that,

If so X2 on what Polaris87 said,

I think it just needed a little tap to get it into place,

The shaft might of got stuck when u slid it through the bearing,

Take it all apart and when you install the shaft back with the speedo bearing in place without tightening the two set screws put some force towards the speedo side to push it in all the way than go back to the chaincase side and start there to reassemble,

Let us know what you find,
 
I would say whoever put your drivers on did not press them on correctly. Looks like the driver on the top picture needs to move to the left so the innner drive lines up with the track cogs better.
 
Its been in there for two years, I pulled the skid out to have it dip. And now im having this iusses with it. Im thinking the alxe move.
 
Make sure thos extro's are pressed into the right position... i rememeber reading when you did your mods... i'd get int here and check your chain case, makre sure everything is centred and tight... loosen up your set screws on you bearing, tighten up chain case, and slowly run your track around with set screws loosened.... then retighten... should line itself up.... I'd just do over everything....

That's what it looks like to me as well.....I don't think the spacing on the extro's are right......Are the extro's new to the sled?

That's what it looks like to me as well.....I don't think the spacing on the extro's are right......Are the extro's new to the sled?


No they have been on the sled for two years.
 
Rethought what I said (after thinking). Would not be the drive shaft in backwards. Chaincase side of the drive shaft is splined for the bottom gear.

I will go with the Extros not being properly spaced. Check the measurements of the drive cogs from the pic in my post above.

I would say either way, it's gotta come apart. Once you disassemble, I am sure you probably see what the issue is.
 
looks to me that you need to align the track. im not sure exactly what the first picture is suppose to be showing... the gap between the speedo bearing and the bevel on the shaft is normal. as for the track and slides not been even in the lug channel would be the reason i said the track needs aligned. now back to the gap part. that part is there normally on stock drivers but is slightly covered by the outside drivers/locking collar.


also if you could take a picture of the speedo bearing to see where the shaft is according the the bearing itself. i bet its fine.
