I just looked at mine with extro drivers looks the same. There looks like a gap of 1/4 between lock collar and start of the hex. Here is picture of the stock driver on my attak before the extro where installed and picture with the extros installed.

Ok guys it seems one of or both of my drivers moved.(no slip driver) I came up with 5 1/8" fron the end of the speedo side to the center of the driver, and 5 7/8" on the chaincase side to the center of that driver. and 5 3/8" in between the drivers. is this right or off.

Just installed Wahl Bros extros on my Apex, here's the specs I used.
Speedo end of drive shaft to center of driver 6.5"
Chaincase end of drive shaft to center of other driver 4.5"
Center to center distance 8 7/8" (8.875")
Hope this helps you out,
Cheers!

Just an observation, but it's hard to understand how the drivers could move laterally on the drive shaft over time. The Whal Bros drivers I installed had almost 1/16" interference fit between the hex drive shaft and driver ID. As I recall, it took about 900-1,000lbs force to press them on to the shaft according to the gauge on my hydralic press.
Anyone else see the drivers moving on the shaft?

sleddog: I stand corrected, apparently I had the numbers inverted when I wrote them down.

mybe when you put the skid in. you put the front in first and then pull the back in. mybe the tips where against the drives and you moved them. they press on easy.
I agree with apexallday. mine pressed on VERY HARD, but, I also have the HD Microbelmont shaft. I really dont know how tight of fit there is with a standard shaft. Fact is, I tried to move one of mine 1/8 inch, with it installed on the sled with a porta power, and it would not move.smoothride said:mybe when you put the skid in. you put the front in first and then pull the back in. mybe the tips where against the drives and you moved them. they press on easy.
06, best of luck on this. I would make sure they don't slide too easy. Perhaps these drivers have been on and off another shafts once or twice, and are slopped out????

It seems my drivers are bad, I can move them on the shaft by hand. So I got new ones and almost have it ready for snow when it shows up. Thanks all for the help.
