if i have allready done the longer links up front, backed off the front springs a couple of turns, and put on woody's dually's('6) are the 5mm shims going to make a noticable differance?i know they are cheep but is it worth the effort.plus my dealer in lancaster mass is the worst.does anyone have the part# for the 5mm shims?

Snappy the part number for the shims is 90202-16230-00 I don't think they will make the big difference in handling you are probably looking for but they only take minutes to put in and are cheap. To install all you do is remove the lower bolt on the transfer rods and remove the existing 10mm shim. If you really want to make it handle alot better the answer is going to some of the OEM or aftermarket straight rate springs being offered.

Snappy, take a look at this post in the mods section (eliminated progressive frt springs......totally new sled!) It looks like a inexpensive way to see if the strait rate springs are what you need. Also whats the matter with the dealer? I've never had a problem there. Do you ride locally or up north? If it's VT we should hook up some time.

thanks 192 woody's,ill look in mod section.i ride up in quebec most the time.as far as the dealer goes he never follows up on the small things i ask about for making my sled better, like 11mm sway bar or 5mm shim for rear controll rod.tells me on the phone he has parts when i get there its not there.ordered 3 wrong batteries for my quad he sold me and makes me feel like im the bad guy.i bought 1 rx1 and 3 quads in the past year and now i get the cold shoulder.enough crying i found another yami dealer in framingham they seem to know there stuff.

hey,193 woody's .i read that mod.it sounds good for a temporary fix.i wouldnt want to put 2-3 thousand miles on that set up this year.but it adds to the fact people are saying the straight rate springs help.i guese thats why yamaha uses them on the 04 rx1's.

If for nothing else it will be a cheap way for you to find out if it is what you need. I would say by 40-50 miles out on a ride you would know if this is a change that would be benifical to you. sure beats spending the 90 bucks to find out its not what you need. This seems to be another solution to this problem that some people are having. but it may also not be your issue. There's not alot of tight twisties up in the Quebec area, (more sweeping highways right) and that is the place that the lift seems to be taking place. As far as Larry goes, I guess you love him or hate him, he has been very good to me though. At least you found someone who you are comfortable with. Stay strait and good luck with your sled.

You don't want to pay for them. Get a fresh hacksaw blade and a piece of 80 grit sandpaper. Split one of the spacers in half, run both halves against the sandpaper until smooth, install. Cheap cheap. If you want to put back the thicker ones, take both together + a washer between them (to make up for the hacksaw blade thickness and the sandpaper cut).

$$$$$

LB they are only a couple of $$. How much is the time worth?

Lets see: *If* you make $50/hour at work, and at a time cost of ONE MINUTE, the cost of the labour in splitting the washer is $0.83. If you want to go one step further, the gas and time it takes to visit your dealer, lets say an HOUR (because you've gotta drive there, explain to him what you want, chat with him for a while because thats what you do, wait for him to find it in the back, pay for it, etc.) - thats a cost of $50 + gas + cost of the part.

Would you pay $50 + for something you can make at a cost of $0.83 that would be just as good?
