Take it for what its worth, My dealer who sells Yamaha Atv's and sled's said that his sales rep told him that Yamaha is sinking all there R&D Money into the motorcyles because that are by far the most profitable division. It's to bad because if they wanted to they could easily out do all the other 3 manufacturers!

All of the other 3 manufacturers are making a freeride sled. Doo has the freeride in several track length options, polaris the assault (switchback or RMK) and cat now has the sno pro high country. The XTX does not even come close to fitting in with that crowd. I'd like to see something to compete with those sleds from Yamaha, likely with a factory turbo to do so..... and NO damn power steering. (...and no I don't mind if it's 50 lbs heavier because of the 4 stroke.)
.....and since these things are getting stupid expensive how about some warranty that you don't have to pay extra for. Have enough confidence in your product to cover it for 3 years bumper to bumper and another 2 years of engine coverage after that.

Heritage who wrote on the first page of this post has a good inside track. I saw a few things a few weeks ago that are going to absolutely blow peoples minds if it does in fact come out or there is any truth to what I saw. Not sure if everyone will be happy with the size or strength of the engine, but the chassie will be very interesting, if it does come out.

if we got all that we wish for and i agree a lot of good idea's, they would be close to $18000 i can't afford a new 2012.

Why no power steering? If there's one things Yamaha's need to do something about, it's the heavy steering. After getting off my Nytro and onto a Cat Turbo, I couldn't believe how a sled that's even heavier than mine could have steering soooooo much lighter.revster said:All of the other 3 manufacturers are making a freeride sled. Power steering is one reason I'll be keeping my SE. I'll try to fix the other issues I have (all minor). But there sure are some nice machines out there being made by the others.

There is nothing to remember. You really never said anything! I will save this post but there is no substance to your response is all.

A smaller engine won,t surprise me one bit(baby triple,750cc,105-110HP).As for the chassis, anybodys guess.I hope your right(if not that would be teasing, and that would be cruel).jedwards89 said:Heritage who wrote on the first page of this post has a good inside track. To Heritage's point, I agree that they should evolve to one platform (i.e tunnel) and make variants from this base. The XP does this for BRP and it is a better product line for it. I also think if yami used the aftermarket better, it would result in improved product variants.
My wish list is pretty simple. Shed 40 lbs and add 15 - 20 hp (I'm talking Nytro here, cause I freeride). Just reading the top TY performance posts, battery, exhaust, suspension, seat and tunnel could achieve this with a bit of work.
I don't think Yami intends to abandon the snowmobile market, but because they are so diverse, they appear to be a MORE conservative company when it comes to sleds. Reliablity first, and avoid the "Absolute Bleeding Edge", and maybe we don't want that either. For the first time, we actually have reliable power and that is worth something to me.
To number1kyster's point, maybe Yami is putting more of their R&D into bikes and ATV's, but I would argue they are actually easier to design....as snowmobiles operate in a rather unique high stress environment: colder, more variable, rougher, and under constantly higher horsepower levels. Think of it this way: If you rode your R1 at comparable throttle/fuel load (thus HP levels), I'd venture to say you would operate at an average of 120 MPH vs a leasurely 70mph and the occasional wheelie.
I would also offer that: ALL MANUFACTURERES HAVE THEIR ISSUES. AC 1000 engines, the Polaris Liberty, BRP's 800's, 1000's. Ford had the Edsel, Toyota had the accelerator pedals.
If you want perfection......wait.....forever. For me, I would bet the 2013 will be better than the 2011, IMHO.

Yup $17299 in Canadian dollars or about 18163 US dollars.
Port Yamaha had em for $12163 US dollars...... me i said. plus 13% tax on that EXTRA $6000 is $6780.
Canada But thats only if you pay mrsp i guess. If you beat the dealer up a bit you could knock $2780 after tax and only save $4000 Canadian or $4200 US lol
I guess I'll say this so I don't make it a hijacking. What I'd like to see on the 2013 Yamahas is a NEW price tag lol.

- 2010 FXNytro MTX 162 SE with a 270 hp MCX Turbo and assorted goodies!
Hope 2013 are just bold new graphics!
Hope nothing changes........ why....??? Because I just backed a new 2010 FXNytro MTX SE 162 into the garage. Seeing how I bought a left over, basically the same sled (apart from a new accent track, different frivers, and BOLD NEW GRAPHICS) for $3500 less than a new one, I would ahte to feel like I bought too early...............
Just kidding, I would like to see a factory turbo installed at the factory. 200 hp mountain sled stock. I however would like to see it be an MCExpress set up.
Until then, I take a leftover at a smoking good deal and add the 240 hp turbo from MCExpress. What the factory can't do for me, I can with a little extra Do-Re-Mi........
