why don't we start a thread how you should line up your sled against teds and see what the outcome is :moon:

I don,t think you will get any hp or tork #,s this would be hard to duplicate on a dyno, it sounds to me like these guys have just seen real world mph losses on the top end whitch indicates a loss of hp. I am sure somebody will correct me if I am wrong.

I'm going from memory since this issue is a little over 1 year old, but I believe the tunnel dump and filter behind the windshield added up to about a 10 MPH loss on top end.

Turbojamie is the guy with real data...

It is hard to tell from this post if your kidding around or being loud.
If you read back through my posts you will see I answered this question twice.

There are too many variables to nail it down to any specific figures, I have seen this problem in all types of motorsports this is not specific to just snowmobiles.

WOW , it blows me away how some people on here insult someone who is trying to help others !

Ken Climb , I'm interested to hear your theory's of why a log style header wont work ? also curious if you are able to achieve 100mph plus up a mountian ?
 
I can chime in on the Speed loss in my sled.

Sled specifics;
2006 Apex GT 121" track
Original Powderlites Front mount tunnel dump
Filter behind the windshield.

Run after run the sled felt like it would CHARGE to 100 mph then fall on its face. Changed to the Excell system with muffler and the sled would continue to pull to 120 odd MPH then start to slow down.

Still slower then any of the other turbo guys claim to run.

Thats when I moved the air filter under the hood, then my sled came alive. Now it chargers to the 130 area and I haven't held it long enough to find out what its got its scary now.

Just real world playing with it nothing more, I can't argue what goes on, out west on the hills because I have no experience, however for the flat land lake guys the tunnel dump was unsuccessful on my snowmobile.
