installing his's in my 06 apex rtx and was just wondering where i should mount the ballasts at?? Any pics where other people have mounted theres?? thanks!!

I zip tied them to the large rubber boot that sits in front of the steering arm. One on each side.
Sorry I don't have any pics. The lights work real well. Good luck.

I have a couple pics. I just put them on today. Pm your email I send pics. I also found on here some other pics of the ballasts installed location. Search the general disc. There's a long topic on them there on 1st pg currently, sledstarts HID's.

I mounted mine at the front, 50w HID ballast, used 60cm high voltage extender on the cables. It's on an Apex XTX -11, not sure if it's looking the same for you.

I found the best place was on the frame rail DIRECTLY ABOVE the clutch cover (leaving about 1/2 inch to get the cover off). They take up no space there, no heat issues etc. I used self-tapping screws and zipped tied them too.

I removed the headlight mounting support and mounted all the ballasts and control boxes to the underside. It was like it was designed to go there. All the wires were a perfect length. Sorry I didn't take a picture before I reasembled the headlight pod.

I mounted mine on the vector on the same bar, I double sided sticky velcro'd them to the side and zip tied them, and mounted the relay under it like you..

Its all plug and play, you don't specifically ground the hid bulbs out. Just plug and go. And the power wire, not sure what your talking about but no, all plug and play

Power comes directly from the battery. I used one of the bolts that hold the light pod assembly to the chassis. What HID kit are you using?

Already done and this is exactly what I did. Thanks for confirming though. I used the DDM kit. I had to mount the relay to the ballast with 3m double sided tape to make everything fit - will this be okay? Not sure how hot the ballast's get. Also when I put the brights on only one bulb mechanically moves - the other bulb doesn't do anything??

I installed everything on the headlight holder/dash that way I only have 2 extra wires to plug or unplug when I remove the headlight and it left me room in the front for all my horn's. There's no messy wires running everywhere and it's clean qhen the hood is off.

just my 2 cent's worth

Got mine figured out, 1 wire connector slid out a bit. So far WAY brighter. Very easy install, everything plug and play except 2 ground wires and 1 power wire. I mounted everything to the underside of the headlight frame, using the bolts of the frame as grounds and then connected the power direct to the battery. I kept the shields on the bulbs, I believe its an anti-glare shield. I read some have taken this off, not sure what the advantage is??

How do you guys like the DDM kits? They are relatively cheap comparatively aren't they? How do they work?

Amazing I got the 55w in my Nytro and RZR. Mud, water snow -40 and 2 years latter everything's still working great. I recommend them ;)!
