hifax

i installed polaries wheels on the skid as they are a tad larger and i know that others here have done this as well its a bolt on all you have to do is use the oem plastic bushing in the new wheels

8000 miles on my sliders on 03rx1,the approach angle is what kills sliders, crank limiter straps up a little bit to reduce the angle,no need for bigger wheels, the bigger polaris wheels just put undo stress on the rails where the brackets bolt to them, seen several mounting holes worn out or bolts bent because its not designed to hold this amount of weight in one spot, the little extra wheels help but watch where you mount them because ive seen them hit as the suspension travels up and down if not installed in the right spot,of course i live in northern maine where we have good snow and the railroad bed is 100yards from my house so i dont have to go riding when there is marginal snow,i have however run into little snow conditions on my canada trips and when you gotta go you gotta go,last year down along the new york border over to ontario it was a bad scene,i have also seen a problem with the sliders wearing so bad at the front where the track first hits the slides that the track clips were actually hitting the mounting block for the front wheels and heating them up and the clips were falling off,so if you notice slider wear dont let it go too far cause the clips will hit the mounting blocks.........hope this helps

Hey grumpy, My 01 srx ate sliders too with the stock track and suspension. The next season i went to camoplast track with the 3rd window closed (loose) I also added long travel shocks. Since that time I have put 4000m on a set of slides. I have been told that the 3rd window closed tack is the key.
