- 2015 Yamaha Viper LTX SE with Push Turbo
Has anyone changed to higher gearing. With my turbo I have plenty of low end but it is pretty wound out at 105-110 mph

My ltx was completely shifting the stock clutches at 109 mph. I put 21/41 gearing in it, haven't had a chance to run it to top speed, only been able to open it up on trails but it gets to 100mph just as fast with taller gearing as it did with the stock gearing, xtx 21/41 gears and chain right thru yamaha cost me $150.
Even without Turbo taller gearing doesn't seem to affect low end nearly as much as I thought it would.

With the turbo I honestly think the taller gearing helps everywhere..atleast with mine is has, the lower gearing with the extra power made it even harder yet to maintain traction, since I did the taller gearing I'm not having traction issues at all, which in turn is resulting in a much quicker machine.

That makes lot of sense to me. I was having traction and rev limiter issues.

Yupp rev limiter will be a direct result of lack of traction, taller gearing=better traction=less rev limiter=easier clutch fine tuning. All of these things are what I've noticed I've gained with taller gearing, I see no disadvantage at all other than the cost of the parts and the time involved in doing it.

Perfect trails today, pulling 6 pounds of boost, 10.8 afr and the taller gearing pulled 116 mph and still at 8800, so not shifted out yet..wish I had a few more hundred feet, I think 120+ would've been seen, she was still acting very lively

I think thats what I am going to do on my MPI LTX Turbo this year, go to the XTX gears and chain.

Thats the plan.... size has never been an issue for me...LOL
Then go for more. That Turbo will pull it.
Ive been running 22/41 gears most of the winter and have seen 124 on the gps not fully shifted out and it accelerates extremely hard, I did try 24/41 but lost all my acceleration down low there's just not enough power at 6# to run those gears but I just ordered some new gears from Ulmer racing and hopefully I will get a chance to try it before the ice melts or I will have to wait for asphalt season
