I got in a conversation about this with a fellow rider....So what is the highest HP ape or sled that is on record?

Around 400 HP I've read. But reality says you can go as high as you can afford. Top fuel dragsters are now at 8,000 hp and turn less then a 1000 revolutions between rebuilds.

I think Woodys Yamaha here in Maine had a 400 HP turbo Apex. From what I hear that is about the limit of the block. A local machinist was trying to do something with a billet block to handle even more power, but I think due to cost and not enough interest he gave up on the idea. I know in bikes I have a Hayabusa and at the Dynojet shootouts they had several making over 700 HP with a turbo and nitrous. I cant even imagine trying to drive that...

I want to say I seen a clip on OSP performance doing a dyno run out east at Dynotech and they saw 500+ HP......

Woody's in Maine was 650 HP before rebuild. He told me at drags two years ago he was expecting over 700

My trail Apex made 425 hp, stock block, stock head, long headstuds - Stone's Apex made 485 HP on the same set up with a ported head and a larger turbo. Past that you need to put a lot of work into the block to make it survive. Hurricane builds a great block and I'm sure he's in the 600 hp range, bored, sroked, ported head, larger valves, with sleeves, head bolts to the bottom ect
