Hey everyone, Im getting ready to take the skid out of my 2005 RX-1 but one problem...I dont have a stand or a lift.
What have you used as a homemade stand or lift? I've seen people hang the rear end from the garage ceiling with tie downs. That may be an option but Im curious to see what other ideas people have.
I just bought some 6 ton 24" jack stands for my truck a couple months ago. Anyway to use those? I think the base is too wide to put a jack stand under the rear bumper. (would hit the track)
Thanks

I have taken skids out using my lift and tying a ratchet strap to the rear bumper with the skis on the ground. And I have to say that the ratchet strap lifting the rear bumper was the easiest. G.B.

Roll it on its side. Thats what I did, and even the instructions say that from yamaha. I am assuming your referring to the skid plate?

Being extra clever and handy with power tools, I built wooden frames (separate front and rear) to set on top of the furniture dollies I typically use for moving my sleds around in the garage. The rear frame spans the tunnel and allows access to the track and skid. The front frame supports the sub-frame.
When I need to lift the sled, I found an inexpensive hand-crank winch hung from rafters worked better than the ratchet strap. When it's time to lower the sled, the winch is much easier to control.

sled lift
If you go to the tech page on ty then go to snowmobile tech there is plans to build your own sled lift for under a 100 bucks. hope this helps or you could just use the rachet straps from rafter in your garage thats what I use works great.
