Do I take off the plastic around the gas tank? Is that where you access the bolts?

The seat actually slides up underneath with no mounts, so no, you don't have to pull the tank shroud off.
Main stuff is:
Plastic housing underneath seat
Two nuts to pull off
It should slide out, but you'll have to pull it towards the back
Don't remember if you have to take the exhaust tips off or anything, but I don't believe so.

You dont HAVE to pull the exhaust tips off it just makes it easier to get the plastic cover off to access the seat bolts.

You mean towards the bottom front where you can get a finger under it? There was a screw on each side that attached the black plastic where the cowl bindings are attached. I took those out and it didn't seem to want to slide back.
