Final trip last year my electric visor wasn't working. I'm fairly sure it was the cord on the sled. How do I test it to see if its working?

It should have a fuse or did you install it without one?

Not sure about other ways, but I have seen/used a small test plug which lights up when your connection is good.
I believe my bud purchased it at Royal Distributing?

12 v bulb with + amd - leads to leads of shield wireing. Or test light bought at walmart for cheap money or a volt meter digital is best. Don't forget to wiggle the wires to make sure it's solid.

I have a test light. What should the voltage read?

Over 12v. Put the red test probe to the center terminal of the plug and the black to ground and it should indicate battery voltage. Test lights do not indicate voltage, it has a light. A multi meter will show voltage. If there is no voltage check the fuse in the fuse box on the right side. If that is OK then check the ground circuit, multi meter on ohms, put the test probe on the side contact of the plug and the other to ground. If that indicates OK then the problem is in the cord or the visor.

I thought it was my cord when it was the sleds fuse that was burned out. I even bought a new helmet and E shield. The buddy pointed out the fuse was the issue

Same thing here. Went to 5 amp fuse.

+2 put a 5 amp fuse in

This happened to me last year and I found a broken wire in the plastic housing where they go into the visor. I also learned that you won't find full continuity through the visor, there is a conductive coating on the lens that heats up when the voltage is applied but I'm not sure what the resistance reading should be.

Finished tester on left, rest is parts to make it.
Use tester alot for on other sledders cords, shields and sleds.

I blow this fuse all the time when cord comes undone while riding and centre pin strikes ground on chassis.
Read somewhere that you change polarity of the shiel hook up and opuit the ground wire to the centre pin and posistive wire to the outer shield.
The heated visor does not care about polarity. But be carful if you switch polarity on 12 volt acc. plug if you plug phone charger, gps, etc into it copuld affect them.

X2
I did that and it fixed the problem.

I spliced a blue LED into the cord, always know when there is power. Click on picture to enlarge.

I saw cords at a skidoo dealer that lit like that. They were to much money for me but a great idea. How did you wire it in?
