How do you test electric visor cord?

Where did you get the blue led light from?

My heated visor has a green LED that light when on but still no good when fuse blown. My cord always comes apart and shorts to ground. Changing my wiring as I went thorugh 5 fuses last year and they usually blow on the coldest nights

I just found the fuses and noticed that it was blown so replaced it with the spare 5 amp one. Hope this does the trick.

I blow this fuse all the time when cord comes undone while riding and centre pin strikes ground on chassis.
Read somewhere that you change polarity of the shiel hook up and opuit the ground wire to the centre pin and posistive wire to the outer shield.
The heated visor does not care about polarity. But be carful if you switch polarity on 12 volt acc. plug if you plug phone charger, gps, etc into it copuld affect them.

This is what I did. The heated shield does not care about polarity so I switched the polarity so that the center pin of the RCA jack is ground and the outer part is positive. Now if I unplug the cord at the helmet and it drops on the running board it will not blow the fuse. I also wired direct to the battery with an inline fuse so that when I stop on the trail I can keep the shield hot with the sled shut off.

I saw cords at a skidoo dealer that lit like that.They were to much money for me but a great idea.How did you wire it in?

First, I did not add it to my cord that came with the shield. My helmet has RCA connector at the helmet and I used a short RCA cable. I carefully sliced the wire casing open and then bared the positive and neg wires and attached the LED. I did not cut any of the wires, just sliced the casings open. Need something really sharp like a razor blade, Scotch brand 303 black tape cut the right sizes to seal it all back up.

Hers a pic of it and another plugged into the 12v jack installed on the dash. The male end plugs into the helmet.

This is not the bulb I used but if I was making another I would order 1 of these:

They have other single LEDS as well. Easy to wire in. Any Radio Shack or electronics store should have short RCA cables, the length can be whatever, your cord will just be longer. You can even replace your exisiting cord and keep the old one for a spare.

What works for us:
Years ago as an oval racer one of my sleds had the factory tether near the throttle, tethered to your throttle hand you soon learn to do everything with your left hand.
We got our first electric shield in 97 so it was only natural to run shield power out of handle bar pad by throttle( 6" sticking out ) and then run cord up inside right sleeve, thru loop in back of jacket and out to helmit. Since I put a shoelace loop on left side of collar to run cord thru. Easier to find when you put your jacket on. You get trained to plug cord to helmit and it never gets unplugged untill you remove your helmit. It becomes second nature to plug and unplug the cord at your right hand. Wife and I still use the old cords from 1997 helmits, ride aroung 3000miles most seasons.
All the group we regularly ride with use the same system.
I always carry a couple RCA cords cause when we ride with other than our group it make me smile when they look for 2nd piece of their cord, or rap cord around handle bar, gas cap or even their neck( not to safe). Soon I have to get out my tester and end up giving them a cord.
Wife and I both see each other check our cords are plugged into our helmits with out even thinking.
Forgot- I have apiece of velcro on cord end hanging out of sleeve and other part on right jacket forarm, can then keep cord out of way when off sled as cord always stays in jacket.

Fuse box is located just ahead of your right knee when sitting on the sled. Remove right hand side cover and you will see it just above the reverse lever.
